Re: OT - eBay Questions for you!

I'm assuming the shipping container was fine, and the sealed box holding the collectible was damaged? If the shipping container was fine, then the sealed box couldn't have been damaged during shipment it was obviously sent that way.

I'm assuming the listing had a photo of the item and showed it in perfect condition (both the item and the box)? Be sure to keep that photo if you file a claim, and also take a photo of how it really is.

He said you could return the item, and I would just assume the cost of shipping it back is at your expense.

No one likes to leave negative feedback, but in this instance I think I would. Or if you want, leave "neutral" after everything has been resolved.

Hi RedConvertibleGirl!

Yes, you assume correctly, the type of damage to the album jacket could not have occurred in a shipping situation. I guess I would call it the binding of the jacket, being ripped. In the condition area of the listing was one work "Mint" and unsealed was in the listing title.

You know, it was something my son purchased, so I guess it hurts to see him wronged! The principle of the return shipping too. My son works so hard with us, at our moving/storage/shipping company! If you can believe that haha!

BTW, I always wonder, what kind of Red Convertible are we talkin? I have an old 91 BMW summer runner!

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!

If the only damage was to the box to ship it, then I don't understand the problem.

I know with some collectibiles that it's box is part of the value. Was that damaged, or just the outer box?

I don't know who is responsible for the shipping charge back. The seller should probably offer to pay it, but damage in shipping really isn't his fault.

If you really think you are being done wrong, tell the seller you will give negative feedback. That is really what sellers DON'T want.

See if that gets you what you want. Otherwise, return it, get your money back, learn a lesson from it, and forget about it.

Absolutely, DO NOT MENTION NEGATIVE FEEDBACK in any message to the seller. This will be viewed as FEEDBACK EXTORTION. Ebay will find in the favor of the seller and your account will be cited.

I have both sold and bought on ebay for many years. I used to answer questions on the Feedback Forum.

File a claim with eBay. They will help you out. You may have to send the item back, but you will receive a full refund.

This gives you step by step info:

Be sure to get tracking on the return so you can prove the seller receives the item.

Re: OT - eBay Questions for you!

I'm sorry that you've had this happen as it obviously is something your son was looking forward to. I personally don't see why you should assume the return shipping fee so that may force you to go through eBay but that's only fair to you.

This seller sound like a doozy, imo and if selling items like this, should be well aware of the cover's value.

I agree that threatening negative feedback is never a good choice but sounds like IrishRose has had some good insight and advice into the ramifications of doing so.

Re: OT - eBay Questions for you!

return it and give them a big fat negative. they deserve it. it's the responsibility of the shipper to ship an item properly and insure it and not the customer.

i wouldn't care to never buy from them again since they sound like real jerks.

who is the seller? i would very much like to avoid them like the plague.
