Re: OT We had to put our kitty down

I am so sorry for your loss. As you can see, so many of us know your pain. I lost my beloved dog one year ago today. Now I know what it feels like to have a broken heart.

Re: OT We had to put our kitty down

I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved kitty. My first cat crossed the Rainbow Bridge at the age of 19 from kidney failure. At the time, I didn't think I would ever get over it . I started volunteering at a no-kill shelter and quickly fell in love with a yellow and white cat. I brought him home and named him Wesley. I took him to the vet and discovered he had a myriad of health issues. But I was in love with this boy and we preserved through 11 years of various issues. He brought me more joy than I could ever describe. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge at age 17. I have not gotten another cat since I am now retired and away from home much of the time. I hope you will find it in your heart one day to adopt another cat. May time heal your heart and know that you and kitty were truly blessed to have each other.

I am so sorry for your loss .. I know exactly how you feel ... I had to put my 17 yr old mini poodle to sleep last year and my heart is still broken .. concentrate on your other fur babies and they will help you get through this sad time ... it gets better as time passes but, we never forget the love they gave us.

Re: OT We had to put our kitty down

Thank you to everyone who wrote to me. I really appreciate it so much. Even though we've had to put other pets to sleep years ago, it hurts just as much each time. I know it will get easier as time marches on. I'll always cherish Cleo and will think of the good times we had together. Sue

Re: OT We had to put our kitty down

So sorry to hear about your kitty, but, well I had to put down just a 2 year old kitty named Shelley, how I got her is kind of a long story, but I had so much joy out of that little kitty and she was very sweet and yes I was devastated when the Vet. said there is really nothing that can be done and that would be the best thing. I did cry for a while , but now I smile when I think how much joy a pet brings you for however long they are here. Hang in there it does get better but they are a part of the family too.

I forgot to mention that I'm sorry for the losses all of you have suffered also, especially Francesca for the loss of your 2 year old cat. I can't imagine how terrible that was.

Re: OT We had to put our kitty down

I am so very sorry for your loss, and everyone's heartbreaking stories are all felt deeply by those who love animals.

You will, I promise you, eventually not hurt so bad, but, it's o.k. to cry and it's normal to hurt. I still cry when I think of, or talk about our precious cat that we had to put down two years ago. It was just heartbreaking, but she knew it was time and she let us know.

I still cry every time I think of the last time I nuzzled her little soft head and she looked at me with sad eyes.

Just mourn for your precious friend and don't feel that you have to apologize -- it hurts and a 19 year friendship is something to value.

Re: OT We had to put our kitty down

I am so sorry to hear about you having to put your kitty down. My kitty is 17 1/2 years old and she is starting to have health problems. She does not want to eat much and is constantly thirsty. I took her to the vet today spent 285.00 for blood and urine test. The vet thinks my kitty might have kidney issues because she is suffering all the classic symptoms of kidney disease. I am so sad to think I may have to put her down as well. She has been with us since she was 4 months old. She is part of my family and we love her but don't want to see her suffer.

Re: OT We had to put our kitty down

Hi Sunshine. Don't try to ""get over it"". Grieving is ok. Remember her with love and try to focus on all the wonderful times you shared. My kitty passed at 17 so I totally understand what you are feeling. In time the tears turn to smiles when you think about her. I remember how I cried when my poodle died and my Daddy said ""it's ok to cry. She deserves our tears"". I never forgot that. Take care
