Re: OT: Hormonal Anxiety Question

Do a search on google for ""SYMPTOMS OF ADRENAL FATIGUE"" - many women going into the starting stages of life end up with Adrenal Fatigue and just never treat it and it takes A LOT for a doctor to identify.

Re: OT: Hormonal Anxiety Question

Well, I see a therapist about twice a month. It really helps me to be able to sit and talk to someone. Just an hour session at a time. That's the only advise I can give.

This time of your life, it would be good to hve fem-le doctor. Try very low dose of Clon-zep-m. You do not feel it (sp-cy, high feeling). (The - in the reply is the letter tht precedes the "B".) It is good ide- to t-ke when only needed. T-lk to your doctor. Consider the fem-le doctor. Good luck.

Re: OT: Hormonal Anxiety Question

Anti-depressants and most anti-anxiety meds are not a take-as-needed fix. What's the problem with trying what your doctor suggests? Isn't feeling better worth it?

The only take-as-needed medications I know about will make you drowsy or whatever. I'm not willing to go that route. I prefer to be alert and functional.

Be careful about OTC meds. I tried them early on and my gyno and regular MD about killed me. I ended up having a lot of nasty side effects, hormonally and physiologically. I'll never do that again.

I suffer from chronic depression and anxiety...it'll never go away, not ever. I'm thrilled to take my medication every day. I enjoy life, I can be me, and I am no longer withdrawn, stressed, sad, anxious, etc. Life is good again!

Re: OT: Hormonal Anxiety Question

Anti-depressants are a daily medication and you often have to commence with smaller doses working up gradually to what is an effective amount daily for each individual. It will vary from patient to patient.

I have found that after the initial start up of an anti-anxiety med (and taking as low a dose as possible) the sleepiness wears off and I can function just fine. It may take some adjustment but it is worth it to me. I had such horrible side effects from a/d that I hope I will never be on them again. I would much rather take something only when I really need it than take something daily that causes all sorts of side effects that never subside. I think through the course of my illness that they experimented with more than 20 different anti-depressants and they all had their own side effects though there were some common to all.

Anxiety and depression are not the same thing though they can often go hand in hand. Imo, taking an antidepressant for anxiety alone is overkill and not needed. If you can find a low dose anti anxiety med to take only when needed, that makes much more sense to me. Remember too that my views are all based on my personal history and personal experience.

Re: OT: Hormonal Anxiety Question

When I was dealing with anxiety, my psychiatrist wrote me a prescription for a very small number of Klonopin (Clonazepam), and I could take as little as a quarter of a dose if I felt anxious. He said that some patients reported feeling better just shaving a tiny amount off of a tablet, and whether that was a placebo effect or not, it was an acceptable outcome with very little medication obviously.

I did not need to take it regularly/daily, and did not need to have it available in perpetuity, either. If other methods fail you, this might be a good option. Best of luck to you.

Re: OT: Hormonal Anxiety Question

Last year I was having almost daily panic attacks and so much anxiety. But since I began consuming green smoothies in my new Vitamix, those episodes have vanished. I got a Vitamix for Christmas and today it amazes me that I've been so dedicated to it. Wish I had known about the benefits of drinking green a long time ago.

Re: OT: Hormonal Anxiety Question

Please go to your local health food store and pick up a bottle of Rescue Remedy. You can also find it on line as well. Just place two to four drops under your tongue any time you are feeling anxious, all day long if necessary. I have been using it for years for panic attacks and anxiety. It was recommended by DR. Oz, his whole family uses it. It works wonders for me.
