Just wondering if there is anyone out there who is experiencing or has experienced what I am going through. Misery loves company, I guess. I have suffered with hives all my adult life. They have lasted each time from a few days to a few years. My last bout was five years ago when I had hives for three years! This was my worst flare up. I went to doctor after doctor and was told over and over again that there was nothing they could do for me. One doctor put me on prednisone which did get rid of the hives but made me feel awful. I finally found an allergist who did testing on me and found out I was allergic to pollen, mold, and cats, no food allergies. I started allergy shots and lo and behold, once I started the shots the hives disappeared. This was five years ago. I have been hive free until a month ago when the hives reappeared. It starts slowly, a few on my thighs, then a few on my arms. Allegra has kept them under control so far, but this morning I woke up with swollen lips. I was afraid this was going to happen because last night my hives looked angry, brighter red and more pronounced. My allergist wants to do more testing, but in order to do this I would have to go without Allegra for a week beforehand, and honestly, I'm afraid to do that! Anyway, as I said, I was just wondering if there is anyone who has had to deal with persistent hives.
