It is exhausting to try and make it through the day when you are in constant pain. I have just been taking an oral anti-inflammatory and various topicals, but no luck so far, and Capsacin burned and blistered my skin. Hope everyone is doing well and best wishes for good health!
I tried capsaicin when it first flared back in 07 and ruled that one out right away. It must work by distracting your brain from the pain by your burning skin! I also had to wash with dish soap to get it off my hands so I didn't burn anything else!!! I also did Tiger Balm but didn't find it as relieving as BioFreeze or the stinky WM Ben Gay.

Hi tigriss-I have fibromyalgia, my husband and son both have degenerative disc disease, and sciatica, and we swear by Blue Emu cream. It's about $14.00 for a good size jar at Walmart. It works when nothing else will. Not always on my fibro, but without fail on the disc and muscle problems. We're always telling our friends and family members about it, they scoff, they try it, and it's worked for everybody. I think somebody mentioned something earlier that involved emu oil, and that is the secret, I think. It transports the medicine deeper into the problem area than regular stuff can get. I hope you'll try it, and I hope it helps. Oh, and there's no smell!

Blue Emu is one of the ones I picked up yesterday at the dollar store. I got that, BenGay Max, and two store brand ones to try. Bengay smells but helps so I will probably use it for over night until I run out and not any more because of the smell. The Blue Emu is what I'm using in the day right now, but the weekend is much more relaxing that the work week, so I'll see what Monday brings. I plan to try several for 3-4 days to see how it works. I've got a $3 off coupon with another $3 off at Walgreens for Arnicare and will see what else they have for my kit. There have been some really great suggestions for things I can't get in stores so that helps to know before I buy. I know it will take time to find something that really works for me. The only thing that I know doesn't work is Capsaicin because it irritates my skin!

Will I have the messed up knees myself, I myself like Ben gay but husband hates the smell. I do use 2 old goats and if I keep rubbing the lotion for about a4 minutes it seems to work a lot better. My doctor did have me use Voltaren but I ended up stopping after a couple tubs. Like one person said it can cause liver damage and my liver was getting messed up and I started to bleed so I stopped. And I started reading up on the med and it can cause heart problems, you think it's just a gel cream. I got it at Walgreens and it ran $45.00 . I'm going to check out a couple of the suggestions that others have mention. Thanks

I've tried many things and, by far, the best I've tried is ASPERCREME ...... yellow packaging, and the best price is at Walmart for around $5. ![]()
Not only is it very effective, but it's UNSCENTED .... which means you won't smell like an old person!

I have severe hip arthritus but have not been to the sdoctor yet for lack of funds. What helps me a great deal is since my pain is at its worst in the morning I take an aleve 30 minutes or so before i need to get up then I take 2 extra strength tylanols or ibuprofen. That combo has helped me the most.

have NOT read the replies, but I will. Just wanted to put my 2 cents worth in because it's helped me so very well. Stop Pain,,,,I use the roll on, but it comes in a spray too, I believe. Just don't trust the spray. The roll on , you just use it with NO rubbing into skin. It works well for me, but not saying that it would work well for others. Best of luck.

Hi Shoekitty, am wondering if you mean Arnicare? It is made by Boiron. One I use is in gel form...
I discovered this wonderful pain reliever several months ago... Suffer from very bad Sciatica, and also both types of Arthritis.. Have several other one's but think this one is the best.
Just wish they had it in a roll on type... However do really like the effect it has on soothing my aching body...

LOVESTODANCE: If the ointment is not too thick, you could try buying an empty roll-on dispenser and transferring the ointment over to the dispenser? You could also buy a tiny flask-sized funnel, which has a small-sized funnel to place in small-sized openings. Most kitchen funnels are too big in diameter. I use one of those to put hummingbird nectar in a decorative feeder. Here are two links, but if they don't link-up right here or copy & paste completely intact, just go to amazon & do a search on the keywords (below):
Plain Roll-on Refillable Glass Perfume Bottle Purse or Travel Size - $2.99, free S&H
Flask Funnel $1.47 & free S&H
--I'm planning to do this as well, & hope this helps solve that problem for you ![]()
