I've been on warfarin for years. I do bruise much more easily, and paper cuts bleed more. But if you are bruising WITHOUT bumping into things, your dosage is probably off. Make a lab appointment pronto.

I am on Effient and going back to the doc onTuesday

I'm glad to hear you're going in! Best wishes!

Get some Arnica Montana. You can get it in pellet form or as an ointment.

I have been rubbing Arnica into some of the worse bruises and they have been fading fast

Taking the pellets will help cut down on the bruising.

Check with your doctor without delay. If you're "bruising like crazy" your dosage level may be incorrect or there may be other problems. This can be serious, even dangerous. Get this checked out!

If you are taking a prescribed blood thinner you MUST stay in touch with your doctor until you get the optimum dosage level for your BODY AND MEDICAL NEEDS.

and don't forget that if you drink any kind of liquor while taking will also increase the thinness of the blood, i ended up having to be hospitalized and given injections of vitamin k in the stomach until doctor could get the right dosage setup for me. yuck not fun. too much wine. sigh

Re: OT Blood thinners and bruising

I have been on warfarin for 6 months. I do get bruising easier and sometimes I'm not even sure where the bruise came from. Do not take anything oral unless approved by your Dr. It all plays into your INR levels. I take pain meds and I take a certain amount each week as to not mess with the INR levels. My Dr. Increased my warfarin to accommodate the medication. And as for leafy greens, consistency is the most important. If you eat 3 servings a week, you will have to eat 3 servings every week. The Dr. Will adjust your warfarin accordingly. I just couldn't get my INR levels therapeutic when eating greens so I've cut them out all together.

Not every blood thinner requires constant monitoring, there are a lot of options out there other than cummadian
