OT - Basement Flooding

UGH! We just had a deluge of rain and I happened to be down in the basement putting food in the spare fridge and water was just gushing through our door to the bilco hatch. I caught it just as it was reaching the door to the finished part of the basement. My DSs and I sprang into action and mopped and put towel d*ms and mopped and mopped. We have never had water before so I checked and the water was just cascading over the gutter and onto the bilco door, and entering the basement.

The rain has subsided and we are now just spinning the towels and washing (and bleaching) them in case we need them again today. Thank goodness the weather looks promising for the next week. I also can't believe how lucky we were that I went down to the basement. The finished basement would have been soaked.

Looks like it's a call to a gutter man and a handyman to caulk the bilcos.

Oh, did I mention, TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY! I love my birthday.
