OMG These Pumps!!!

I know this is a really dumb thing but every infernal toiletry and beauty product now comes with these pumps you twist on, turn the top and it pops up, right? Well I would say that more than 50% of the pumps I try just keep spinning and they don't pop up! I'm turning it the right way, and still nothing. Am I the only one who has this problem? I really hate these things now cause I have to keep reusing old pumps, the few that I have gotten to work. Well I'm glad I got that off my chest before I throw another one out the window.
