Where I live the appropriate tip is 15% after tax and it doesn't exclude a buffet.

I tip 25% or more for regular eating out. I was a server and a bartender while getting my career started so I have a soft spot for servers and I tip well.

Honestly the only time I eat at a buffet is usually at my country club or a nicer type of restaurant or hotel and I tip the exact same way.

I think the lowest someone should go is 15% unless they receive horrible service.

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.
