Re: O/T Help Short Term Disability

Good luck to you. I will share my experience which was not a good one. I had to clock off and go to the doctor to get him to fill out my forms. When I made the appointment, I was very explicit that I needed the doctor to fill out my paperwork. However, after I waited 2 1/2 hours for this doctor, he informs me that he did not go thru all these years of medical school to complete forms. I had to have a confrontation with him in order to get my forms completed after I waited 2 1/2 hours to see him, of which I was in an unpaid status. Part of the problem was caused by the doctor in that Dr I Don't Do Forms, had cleared me of all restrictions to return to work, knowing that I could not go back to work. Again, good luck. I hope you don't have to go thru this.

But the whole problem is there is nothing from the Physican certifying why she cannot work yet. So you have unexcused absence at this point.

Yes this is it. Fortuantly they had everythng at human resources before I left for my appointment. So all the hounding paid off today.

Here is the bad side. My thyroid is normal. My sugar is barely over 6 and the count was good. No High blood pressure it was low today. I do have anemia which I have always been borderline. But he gave me some iron pills. He is sending me to a new rheumatogist because I Hated mine and havent seen him in years. So tons of fatigue and no answers. So frustrating.

Whew, so glad you were able to hound them to complete the paperwork and records!! You know, when you're sick, shouldn't have be frantically worried about paperwork. That's a shame, because you should be resting, instead you were stressed........Smiley Sad. But glad all is going as planned and you can concentrate on healing. Feel better soon.

I suspect there is more to this story.

Short Term Disability need only be for seven days or more, as they don't generally pay for the first seven days. Also OP did not say anything about her employer. FMLA only covers schools, government and private sector employers with an avg 50 employees in 20 weeks of the year. So a lot of small businesses are not covered. If OP thinks her employer is covered, she should probably request that they fax her the paperwork. They can't deny her the opportunity to file for it is they are covered.

I need some advice. I have been out on STD for about 3 weeks now. Because of a mixup with what to do with a document my doctor has it. It is for the release of my medical records. They told me the copier is there on Wed and they will be sent. Are you kidding me. Then I get a fedex letter from work stating if they dont have it I have to return to work on monday.I have another appointment tomorrow and will not leave until they are faxed.I wont even get my results until tomorrow so I will just be starting meds and am in no shape to go back. Anyone experienced something similar.

All you need is a note from your Dr. stating you can't return to work and estimated time of return and next appointment date. Your employer can't ask about the reason you are off. (HIPA law) The medical record is for your insurance and not your employer. It has nothing to do with your return to work date, it's so you will be paid. Hope this helps.

This is not how short term disability works. She's not taking a few sick days here.
