Sorry for using your category ladies but I didn't know where to put this because it's actually not about electronics.

It's more about how these shows that sell things (all commercials) stretch the truth in trying to sell something.

Last night I flicked over to HSN to see what was going on there. It was around 1:00AM East Coast time.

HSN's nighttime host (Shannon) was on saying they were going to definitely, definitely sell out of their TSV (a Sharp 60" TV) and it would probably be within the hour. She went on to say they only had a few hundred left.

HSN has every host constantly saying, "We only have (insert number) left so buy it now". Now she's down to her final 3 dozen.

Why can't people just tell the truth? Why do they have to continue to lie? How did society get to the point where telling the truth will not sell the product?

We used to be able to sit and watch TV and they would talk about a product. They'd give details about it. It wasn't all about glitz and glamour. It was about the product.

Now I'll go sit down and be quiet and change the channel.

That's just Shannon. I actually don't watch when she is hosting anymore. She annoys me that much. That's her normal sales pitch.

We are selling these faster then we thought.

We have sold 1/3rd of the qty. and we are not sure how much longer it will last.

Purchase now, because the choices will not be available later on in the day.

Yes, Shannon always says that. There are a lot of people who don't watch much TV (especially that late at night). However, if they come upon her, they immediately dislike her because of her selling tactics.

They all do this. Colleen warned the her TS Tanzanite ring was near sell-out after less than an hour. By that night at 9:00 they still had all the sizes. Shannon is the worst though.

Do you possibly think that they have a certain allotment for each host's show and maybe they would sell out? Just a thought...I do notice it on all shopping channels.

I doubt they have a max on inventory for each show. The hosts are there to sell and will try any tactics - if it works they'll continue!!

Oh, and her classic....I own (1), sometimes more, of these! Agreed, they all do it; IMO, she's the worst!

Personally, I enjoy the adrenaline rush, I get, from ordering something at the last possible moment; especially if the item is "literally flying out the doors".... INCOMING!!! ....DUCK AND COVER!!!

sailor, I used to do that. Unfortunately I have a bunch of (I call them stuff, my daughters call them junk and my friends who are smacking their lips at selling them for me at the yard sale call these things items). (I'm smiling).

I told them that they can take anything and everything but I will not be there when they sell the stuff because I know what I paid for it and I know I won't get much for it/them.

I said, "I would like to get a small percentage from it, but most can go to you guys. First come and pick out anything you want for free and then we'll sell the stuff".

My electronic stuff will draw people in. I know there are people who go to yard sales, buy the stuff and then resell it. That gives people adrenaline rush also. If they're willing to do that, more power to them.

Whereas my youngest daughter (adult) wants me to sell the stuff on ebay or Craigslist. Way too much trouble. She did that when my son-in-law and daughter moved to Florida. They sold everything that wasn't nailed down. She took pictures and listed it and sold it.

For some reason she has trouble finding time to do that for me. Just kidding. She lives in Colorado, not Northern Va.

Too bad more of you don't live near me. All of my QVC buddies would be educated enough to realize what a bargain some of the stuff is. That is what I always wanted to do. Give it away to people who needed it.

I did that several times and found out it made it's way to ebay. No more. That bothers me.

Back to the rush. I'm still trying to figure out what (at my age) will give me a rush. Hummmmm, any ideas.

I think doing volunteering might do it. Not being so selfish, probably.
