Pretty Boy!
‎03-20-2014 04:46 PM
At the present time i have 2 keets. Lemon is a little over six years old and Trixie is a year old. They live in separate cages as Trixie doesn't care to share her home and is quite a mean little hen if I put them together. I lost my 8 year old Snowball to a tumor a couple of months ago. I have had as many as 4 at a time living together. Even though they aren't hand tamed they are still a joy. Mine are little bossies letting me know when they want flight time and when it is time to cover them for bed. Lemon likes to play with her roulette wheel and Trixie can demolish one of those bird kabobs in just a few days. Enjoy your little fids!

mine eat that treat stick in 1 day or less lol
they will not leave the cage. it was funny when trying to get them in the new cage i had to catch the yellow with my shirt but the blue one got to her new home on her own without much help. I think she saw her yellow girlfriend and tried to get to her. The yellow is Hantzie, the blue is Quieksen ( german for squeak lol) and my new little one is Rainbow Rob for he is 8 colors that I found so far on him and Rob is after the name of a friend of mine that named one of his chickens after me
My yellow one is the devil one. Her eyes are pitch black and she shows no emotion at all and she is the loudest. She can get so loud I worry about waking up the neighbors. The blue one is full of personality and her voice is soft on the most part she just does a tiny squeek . Rainbow is also rather quiet. my yellow one is the rebel rouser instigator. If she squaks loud they all start up.

They will come out to fly one of these days. They are probably still getting used to their new cage. I always let new birds out in the late afternoon or early evening. That way they are easier to get back in the cage as they naturally will head home to roost for the night. Just leave the cage door open and let them come out on their own. My birds over the years have had about every keet toy sold, but they also enjoy just a craft stick [not colored] clipped to the cage to chew on, cheerios strung along a cotton string tied to the cage bars, raffia from the craft store hung in short bunches, and a favorite treat is corn or wheat chex cereal snuck in their food dish. Your rainbow bird is so pretty. I have never seen one with so many colors. I have had all colors over the years except white and gray i think. We just finished a sing a long here....they love singing along to neil diamond especially

I finally found it - it is a TENNIS ball. I kind of feel sorry for the little guy, he tries so hard.

KcLadyz, they are adorable ! I know I would have also wanted to bring home the male if he were alone at the store!
We had parakeets when my son was little. One blue one green/yellow. They bonded with each other though. They would fly around, we had an old house with lots of nooks and crannies! They loved all the perches and they knew they were playing a game when we wanted them back "home".
