This was featured on dr oz as a great soap for acne and adding moisture. I have been using it 3 weeks and my acne is dried up and gone but my skin is getting dry. Has anyone else used this soap and what was your experience. I am trying to decide do I stick with it and eventually the dryness stops or do most people find it dries their skin. I have combo skin. If it were more on the oily side this would be great.

Re: Nubian african black soap

I purchased some African Black Soap (bar form) from STO for my son's back acne (occasional breakouts - not real bad). He found it very drying, too, and did not wish to continue with it.

Just use a good moisturizer to follow right after you wash your face, preferable in the shower so the pores are open to get as much gunk out as possible. While just damp, moisturize with an oil free moisturizer. I use a Neutrogena naturals one that works well to keep my oily skin from being over moisturized.

Deleted because I didn't read the OP carefully enough.

I'll try it with a better moisturizer. It did such a great job clearing up the acne I don't want too give up too soon.

Re: Nubian african black soap

Use it once a day (nightly) and follow with a good moisturizer. When I started using it I was only able to use it every other day and only leave it on my skin for 15 - 20 seconds before it became uncomfortable and I couldn't use it at all with my clarisonic. My skin needed time to adjust and now I am able to use it with my clarisonic for the full minute but I'd never use it twice a day because it still will dry out my skin. I agree that is great for acne prone skin so don't give up on it. Use it every other day and only at night to start, hth

I'm wondering if the fact that it was bar form may make a difference.

I don't have an answer, but we also noticed the bar dissolved away rather quickly. For that reason alone, I think a liquid form might be a better choice for this product.

I found the ABS to be very drying & I could only use it once a week, or so. My sister has normal skin (Mine is combo/oily) & she doesn't find it drying. I got the block of ABS from Coastal Scents.
