Is Wen "strong" enough to use if you have a lot of product in your hair? Will it really clean it or should I use a regular shampoo first and then Wen. THanks

The first time I used Wen was at a beach hotel. I had 3 days of product and sand in my hair. Wen removed everything in the first cleanse.

I've bumped up a thread on the number of pumps to use. This is also a quick link to it:

I've spent many evenings just reading thru past threads. The information here is great. And remember Wen is a Cleansing Conditioner. So use your first cleanse as a "shampoo". Meaning really scrub your scalp and add enough water to get it good and frothy. Rinse really well then add your pumps for your second cleanse, add water and scrub your scalp some but pay attention to your midshaft and ends. Work it in well and leave it in for the remainder of your shower then rinse thoroughly. It really cleanes well. The people here are really informative. Hope this helps.
bunk, these are excellent suggestions that BethanyB is giving you.
You don't need to use a regular shampoo first because, if you use Wen properly, it will leave your hair squeaky clean but without stripping it of it's natural sebum (body oil) that balances skin oil production.
As an example, once or twice a week I do an overnight oil treatment. I use four dropper fulls of oil to coat my scalp and hair (my hair is thin/fine and shoulder length). The following morning I cleanse my scalp and hair only using the Wen CC. And my hair comes out just great -- without any excess oil on it.
Also, you may have an oily scalp due to regular shampooing. Shampoo strips all the natural sebum oil off your scalp. Your scalp then responds by increasing its oil production. Over time, this creates a cycle of more and more oil build up on the scalp. Wen CC can help readjust scalp oil production over time. -- But using the oils will speed that process up.
Right now their are 3-4 excellent "oils" threads on the first page of the forum. You should read through them to get a more complete idea of how this works.
Best of luck!!
