New user here and I’m having issues with not getting the results everyone else seems to be getting and am hoping for advice.
My hair:
Medium length
Dry, color treated (damaged as a result), both coarse and smooth hair, frizzy, thick (actual strands are thick, not that I have a lot of hair) and, as a result of perimenopause, my hair texture is changing and becoming more coarse; the hairs that are smooth are slowly turning coarse.
I air dry and don’t use styling products or tools. We have hard water.
I’ve been using WEN for 2 months. I used to wash every 4-5 days when using shampoo/conditioner. With WEN it’s every 3 days, not because the scalp or hair gets oily but my hair just becomes stiff and unmanageable.
I’ve followed the usage guidelines. I do add a tiny bit (nickel size) as a leave-in conditioner because my hair is just too dry and frizzy after only c c’ing. Unfortunately, it still is.
I’m using Orange Blossom and 613. I’ll alternate between washing with one and conditioning with the other. I’ve noticed no difference in my hair when I’ve alternated. I chose the Orange Blossom because it smells so good and it’s supposed to be universal. I chose the 613 because it’s supposed to be good for damaged hair. I also alternated between using only one or the other. I’ve tried just doing a one-time all-in-one cleanse/condition or a cleanse, then condition. I’ve followed directions as to amounts. I’ve tried less and I’ve tried more. Having experimented with all these variables without good results I suspect I’m using the wrong formula.
While my hair is nice, smooth and conditioned during c & c’ing, once it’s all rinsed out I can feel how dry and stripped of moisture it is. I can’t afford to get the multi-pack to try different versions and then yet another bottle of the one I truly need, so I really need to get this right on my next purchase. So many people love WEN there must be something to it. I just need to find the right formula or combo to give it an honest chance. Suggestions? Thank you.

I found the ones with no stuff in them like ( OMG senior moment) Pomegranate and the Green Tea and Bamboo and maybe the Seasonals do not work so well on my hair.Leaves it kinda dull. Try a regular one. Fig if you need moisture, lavender if you need fullness, ect I stay away from those that do not have all the ingredents and are soy based fpr people that need to stay away from somethings. .My hair always looks dull when I use them.
I am 77 and m blonde hair is beautiful and long. I only wish I had WEN when I was young and had the worst hair in the world.
It really takes a few weeks, maybe a month or so to fall in love.I found it did not work instantly gave up and restarted ,then I hung in there.I'm using it since Chaz first came to the Q
Now I have the beautiful long blonde hair I always wanted ,too bad I'm an old lady now.........lol I even have a pony tail that I can swing around like nobodys business........I always wanted a pony tail but it just never grew long enough I used Tony ponies (HSN) all the time....lol
Let me tell you when I walk into a room heads turn in a good way...............lol
I have to add I do not use the special overnite conditioners or oils mousses or creams. I only shampoo (condition) every other nite or everynite(only cause my bangs look greasy) sometimes.I cheat now with only ! wash. I use the replenish with my dog and the styling cream for heat protection.I really have great hair for a 77 year old lady. Long ,blonde and silky. Sadly ,I did not have great hair all my life.

I'm going to also suggest Fig. But really the discovery kit is the way to go for anyone new to Wen IMO, A219409. Depending on the length of your hair, a nickel size of leave in may not be enough. Also the styling creme will help.

Try the oils. I personally like the seasonal oils. I use a dropper full in my dry hair as a finishing product. I also do an oil treatment at night once a week. The oils have actually worked better for me than the remoist. I have bra length hair. Thick, color treated and I too am peri-menopausal. Good luck! Also I don't see a big difference between the cleansers for me. I use the seasonals and 613....sometimes lavender and I ordered a gallon of BGT.

I'm giving Wen a 2nd try after using Lavender years ago which didn't work because it wasn't moisturizing enough, but I've heard 613 can dry out some people's hair because of the protein. I agree that Fig may work for you, and also agree to use more as leave in, a nickel is probably not enough if you're hair is really dry and damaged. I've been using Fig, and use half to 3/4 a pump as leave in. My hair is long, fine to normal, but really parched and frizzy if I use anything but moisturizing products.

My hair is a little past chin length, but very thick and coarse and I use a whole pump of SHP and a little bit of 613 as my leave-in. It definitely sound like you need to use more.

I'm going to offer the same advice, either try one of the discovery kits (if it's in your budget), or start with Fig. It's one of the core wheat-based cleansing conditioners, made specifically for dry, damaged hair. It's the most moisturizing of all the formulas.
Also, you made need to use more leave in than a nickel size amount. My hair is to my bra strap, fine in texture (but pretty thick) and I use more CC as a leave in than you are. You might want to try applying more to your soaking wet hair.
I know exactly what you're describing with your hair, smooth in the shower, but dry and brittle once it's dry. That's how my hair gets when I over do it with the 613/seasonals. My hair much prefers the wheat based CCs.
I know that the seasonals are touted as being universal, but I don't think that's the case, at least not for me. 613 is the most treatment based of the CCs, it contains lots of amino acids (which are the "building blocks" of protein). The seasonals are like hybrids of the core formulas and 613, they are soy based and also contain amino acids. My hair needs moisture, but not the additional amino acids every cleanse. I can only use these occasionally. When I use them too often (I love the scents......it's hard not to use them, lol), my hair becomes dry, brittle and tangles easily. This does not happen when I primarily use the wheat CCs.
If you decide to try fig (or one of the discovery sets), don't give up on the formulas you already have. Try a wheat based CC for a few cleanses, then, if your hair starts to improve, you can try to incorporate a bit of 613 or a seasonal.
Good luck!
