New Favorite Styling Cream

[ Edited ]

To start I have baby fine hair that is both permed and colored, and I wear it curly.  Generally, I add poduct and let air dry for 45+ minutes if I have the time, or less on Sundays when I can only let air dry while I apply my makeup.  After that I diffuse to complete the drying process.

I've been using Tweak'd Chiuri Butter for quite awhile now, and while I liked it okay, I was becoming less and less enamored with it.  It never gave me thick or volumized hair like Denis' daughter, and I noticed that the bottle of curl gel I always grabbed after using it would get hard bumps on it which made me think this stuff may be getting hard in my hair and could be building up.  But, my main problem was frizz and undefined curls.  I do already use Ouidad Advanced Climate Control gel (the red bottle) to fight frizz caused by humidity, and usually mixed it with Curls Curl Goddess gel so I wouldn't get crunchy curls since I don't like to Scrunch out the Crunch.  That's a Curly Girl Method thing.

So, before my last Ulta visit I did a little research and decided to try Ouidad Define & Shine Styling Gel-Cream.  It's supposed to be a hydrating hybrid styler for enhanced definition.  It's also supposed to create a soft and ntural "second day" look that's never sticky or stiff.  Now, that statement almost turned me off as I generally dislike 2nd day hair, so why would I want my 1st day hair to look like 2nd day hair.

I have learned not to judge a styling product on the first try unless it's just awful, so I have used this 4x total so far.  First day was also after I had done an Olaplex treatment, so any good hair could be attributed to that.  I really liked it but still felt like I wanted more definition, so on Sunday I added in my curl gels just like I was doing with the Tweak'd product.  I was very pleased with that.  I repeated that on Monday and today I only added the Ouidad Advanced Climate Control gel.  On both days I just mixed the gel(s) with the gel-cream.  I have been VERY happy with my hair doing it this way, either with one or two gels added.  Every time I walk into the bathroom, I have to check it out, and while I still feel the need to fluff a little, I'm extremely happy with it. It's also shinier.

@Icegoddess I don't think that girl with the long blonde hair is his daughter.  It's his girlfriend.

Re: New Favorite Styling Cream

I used Ouidad many years ago. It is also a method of cutting hair to bring out the curl. Ouidad created it, and she teaches stylists how to do it. My stylist is certified in it, but I haven't cut my hair that way for many years.

I'm glad you like the products.

Re: New Favorite Styling Cream

I mix Ouidad climate control gel with Tweak'd Retore balm and that give me the right formula for my curls
