Need a chafing gel sub for a primer

Now that primers are getting so expensive I'd like to go back to a chafing gel like I used years ago.  Everything I see online says gel to powder.  Will these work?

@depglass

DD and I use Gold Bond 'Friction Defense'.....moisturizes, long-lasting, non-greasy.

It's a solid that looks like deodorant, but it doesn't dry to a powder.

I rarely interact on these message boards anymore because the signin process is ridiculous, but I always, always, always go back to Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel.  I have an array of expensive primers that never work half as well.

Thank you ladies !  Both are listed on Amazon, no 30 mile trip to Walmart for me.

The cost of primers is crazy to me-  I'm using a cute little anti-chaf stick as a primer, made by First aid beauty. I got it at Ulta, picked it up near the register- I like it! $8.00, and it will last a while!

Ok I have never heard of a chafing gel primer. Are you talking about a primer for your face to go on under makeup? The chafing description is throwing me off.

I've read about people using Monistat as a primer.

I used Monistat years ago and it made me break out. The dimethicone in it, though non-comedogenic, creates a barrier to trap oil and dirt...that's the problem with it.

Monistat is a great dupe for Smashbox Photo Finish Primer.

@depglass

used Monistat chafing gel decades ago. I found the recommendation here.

It worked great until my oily complexion turned desert dry.  If you have an oily complexion, this is a great alternative.
