Hi. I am in my 60's and sure could use some suggestions. I have tried every kind of foundation, - IT, BE, Laura Geller, drugstore brands, Clinique, Lancome, etc. I am sure you can get the picture. But whenever I finish putting on my makeup for the day, I take a magnifying mirror to check my look, and literally I get sick! I look so bad. I see pores, a dry complexion, and lines, etc. I am looking for a makeup foundation that gives a soft, natural, look. Not a heavy dried look. I do use moisturizer first. I tried IT's poreless powder (white powder) and still see pores. Please can someone give me some ideas. I can't believe I leave the house looking like a dried prune. Thank you very much!

No offense meant because I am also in my 60s, but frankly, a magnifying mirror is my best friend and my worst enemy. I can't apply makeup anymore without it, but have to get a super close up of all those other things. It's called "old".

I don't know if this will help, but I have found that using the beauty blender sponge really makes my make- up look better. You wet the sponge and squeeze out the excess water, and then use it to apply your foundation. It has made a real difference in my 60 plus face.I use both bare minerals complexion rescue and IT CC cream.

I am 63 and since I started using Perricone No Foundation Foudation (the original and not the serum) several years ago I have received more compliments on my skin. I also use SKINN's pore serum first before anymoisturizer. The No Concealer Concealer helps also. I would also suggest getting a really good magnifying makeup mirror so you can see better while applying your makeup. Without it I tend to apply foundation heavier.

@vanity: My 57 year-old skin loves the new Lancome Teint Idole Foundation Stick. I wear very little foundation, so it's perfect for me. Can't feel a thing and yet a couple of tiny swipes, blended with a brush, covers anything I want it to, like redness or other discoloration. The stick will last forever because a tiny bit goes a long way. Very different from other foundation sticks I've tried because it's not heavy at all and never leaves me shiny or with a yellow tone (like Bobbi Brown's stick), and it gives a matte finish, but allows my skin's natural "glow" to show through. Never, ever looks dry on my dry skin. Plus, no fragrance or other ick that can cause irriration. Best barely-there foundation I've ever found for my skin.

I decided today, that as the makeup gets used up, I will use mascara and maybe blush. After that, the face is on it's own. At this age, it's a gift I'm giving to myself.

@vanity I will be 59 in a few weeks. My skin/complexion is better now than it was several yrs. ago and even more youthful in some ways than people I know who are younger than me. I'm going to suggest a different approach. Before you use any foundation, you have to think about your skincare first. It's more than cleansing and just using a moisturizer. Attack those pores from a cleansing perspective (using Dr. Young's Camellia Cleansing Oil and a Foreo Luna type cleansing too every night and my AM cleanser with the Foreo Luna really helped me in this area). Be sure to exfoliate regularly - a few times a week. Regular masking is important too - one to purge the gunk from the pores and another to add moisture back. Use an appropriate serum (or serums) that will treat your skin's needs. Then the moisturizer comes into play. If your skin is very dry, you may like a serum type foundation, but you may also find that with your issues addressed through skincare, something you already have in your stash of failures might actually work when given another chance..

Oh My God I had the same exact problem last week. . im in my 50s I was horrified when I put on foundation for the first time in ten years. But I went in to a cosmetics counter store to talk to the cutest little cosmetics girl she must have been twenty years old, so cute , but any ways she was very knowledgeable. she showed me how to put on foundation with out it looking cakey. You just swirl it on. Yes get a giant make up brush or a foundation sponge or what ever your gonna use and swirl swirl swirl all over you face in tiny circles. Just keep swirling. Little round circles rub it on and swirl swirl swirl and don't stop till your satisfied. Then look in the 10 times zoom mirror and smile and feel like a super model. You will be pleasantly surprised. Don't swirl you blush though. Keep it light.

If you have a light/med. complexion try Perricone Face Finishing Moisturizer Tint; my face loves this.
I am a mature woman and this leaves my skin w/some color and dewy, which is a finish I prefer.
I use bronzer/blush over this very lightly; I receive compliments and I have far from excellent skin.
Sephora sells this-free shipping and returns.
