Is this a new trend? Painting the nail and leaving a space below the cuticle. It looks like the manicure is incomplete. I noticed it on Allie Carr during the Jennifer Miller show this afternoon

Do you mean above the cuticle, half moons was a trend in the 1940's

It might just have been that she needed a fill.

I dislike all of the weird nail displays.  The one that really made me laugh was the one where the nail was clear but the long part of the nail (only) was painted dark green.  It looked like someone scratched a soggy swamp monster and then forgot to wash their hands.

LOL, she just needs a fill.  The gel polish has grown out.

Having a space above the cuticle on the nail means the manicure is over two or three weeks old.

The nail grows from the cuticle so you don't push it back too aggresively or cut them. When the polish, gel or not, comes too close or on the cuticle it hinders the nail growth.

I didn't see the host's nails but if there's a big space and gel nails, yes a fill is needed.

I do not get my nails professionally done currently due to my lifestyle with retirement, travel and grandchildren.  Fitting in Doctor appointments is stressful enough.

i do know a girl who owns a very upscale salon and a few ladies who go there, yes, I have seen this style from the 40's being done.

Nail styles in my area change a lot.  Everyone was doing nail art and I noticed last summer many plain.🤷🏻‍♀️💅
