@gacat123 and @SANNA Don't feel "dense." Four years ago I had no clue about the indie world either. Basically, an "indie" polish is handcrafted. The "maker" is literally creating the polish from base (different from base coat) and various pigments, glitters, etc, pouring it into bottles, then selling and shipping them, usually from their home. Think buying a handmade product at a craft faire. That's really simplified, but I think you get the idea.

I'm really liking how my mani looks, even if yellow isn't the best color for me. I'm amazed that I have no chipping yet. Not that I've been doing anything that would encourage chips, but I have so many layers that I kind of expected at least a few. I've been buying Darlene's polishes since the first collection (how could I resist a collection with names based on Chinese food?). The original Lemon Sauce is a very sheer polish (it's since been reformulated to be a bit less sheer), so I used a couple of coats of Hawaiian Pineapple as an undie over my base coat. Then the jelly sandwich with Lemon Sauce and Holo Halo, then fast dry top coat, then matte top coat. So LOTS of layers!

Lol, thanks!!!

Despite lots of abuse my last mani stayed on (minus one small chipped area) till I got the bulk of the clearing of my patio done. This morning was to change polish and do a bit of sampling of different polishes.

Ring finger is Pretty & Polished What In Carnation? (which is a thermal polish...this is the "warm" state). Remaning fingers all started with KB Shimmer It's A Blazing (multichrome). Index finger...no topper. Middle finger...topped with KB Shimmer Interstellar. Pinkie...topped with Native War Paints Littlest Brother.

@SANNA

I went with something similar but a bit lighter for my manicure and pedicure.  I was looking through my Julep container and found Zelda, described as a pink champagne metallic. I find it is more neutral than pink.

Very pretty,Lulu! Mine in reality is almost like yours,  rose gold color.  Lighting plays a huge role. Very happy colors, both! Enjoy!

I just returned from a work/play business conference  trip to Savannah.

One nice lady I was talking with had lovely very  long nails in a cranberry color polish.

I admired her nails of course, and explained my French Manicure *natural* nail look along with the very short middle nail that is slowly growing out.

I asked her if she does her own nails or visit a salon? Well, she goes to a salon and they are her nails with acrylics.  She asked me if I use a nail hardener and I explained that the nail hardener seems to make my nails dry and brittle, they snap off at the quick!

Question:  I thought  ACRYLICS are very hard and damaging to the natural nails under them?

I did not get into a deep discussion with her or anything, she is very happy with her nails. When the salon folks remove the acrylics is when the problems start I believe.   ??

@gacat123

Years ago I wore acrylics and my natural nails always grew out under them.

When I removed them my nails were not in awful shape as my girl hand filed.  In most nail salons they used a dremel to smooth and even out the new layer(s) of acrylic they applied.  When the acrylics are removed, you usually had to soak your nails in acetone, (for quite awhile) then the layers are filed (or "dremeled" off) off.

Most nails show substantial damage.  Many ladies wear acrylics for 10+ years.  They have the old ones removed every 6 months or so, then have new ones applied.

There is a lot of time and expense involved, but many consider it part of their beauty routine.

The event of gel polishes lessened the damage for most.
