No, it doesn't always work! Unfortunately, it's not as simple as what goes with blue or purple. You have to consider all the details. Is the color bright or pastel? Clear or muted? Does the blue lean green or purple? Does the purple lean blue or red? For glitter toppers, how much contrast in color do you want? My swatch sticks are clear, so sometimes I can get a pretty good idea by looking at the sticks together. My wheels are off white, so, if I'm combining a glitter with another polish, I sometimes will swatch each of the base colors I'm considering onto a nail(s), then add the topper(s). But you can go through wheels pretty quickly.

Well, see? This is exactly my problem. It's not only what might go with blue or purple (or green. or orange - lol), it's also the variation of shades! It drives me nuts and quite often, when I do a combo mani, it's something I've pretty much seen in an image or on a blog! Loooser! {#emotions_dlg.laugh} Anyway, thanks for your input! And, you're right...I could call Sally's and ask about the ChG.

So, here's my mani with Arizona (which, by the way, was a bit watery; the formula isn't nearly as good as my bottle of Jancyn, which is pretty much a 2-coater) and Tanzy. This is FOUR coats of Arizona (it was patchy) and 2 coats of Arizona with 2 coats of Tanzy on top.

Bella, that looks good. Combos I've found: orange family - Zoya Amy (shimmer) with Zoya Dhara (pixie dust). Bue family- Zoya Hazel (shimmer) with L'oréal Pop the Bubbles (like pixie dust). Copper family - butter London Brown Sugar (shimmer) with L'oréal I like it chunky (like pixie dust).

Thanks so much, nom! I love Amy so much - I almost chose her to wear instead of the combo in the pic! It never occurred to me to pair her with Dhara, so I might have to give that a try! Thanks for the great suggestions! Kiss

The oranges shades are very pretty! I've been boring with my every other week mani's in Negligee by VL. My pedi past week is a red, Hollywood, also VL. My natural nails look very much like a soft, short version of a French mani. I'm liking the staying power and not having to mess with polish changes that dry my nails. I know I'll go back to brights at some point!

Fifi - Thanks so much! I love orange polish (or peach or coral - lol), but I just didn't like those two together, so I changed it! {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} That's great that you're enjoying the VL polishes and that they last on you! It doesn't sound like you have had borning mani/pedis at all!

I pulled down another new polish (that I got from the Earth Day sale), so this time I'm wearing Tamsen. Zoya describes it as a warm brick red with strong orange tones. Um, ok...I'll take their word for it, but I'm not seeing any orange-y-ness! {#emotions_dlg.w00t}

I'll write a post later, just wanted stop in right quick. Bella, since they had the minis, I'm sure they had full size. At our two Sally stores, there was only a few left so I got three colors. At first I thought the minis were 1/4 oz. and was going to buy two packs, but they're 1/8 oz. So I didn't get them. Nom, I found a set of the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel with top coat on sale at Ulta for $8, so I got it. I'll post later tonight or tomorrow. We're headed to a bluegrass concert.

I love Zoya. I wear Pandora for pedicures. That way, if it gets chipped, it doesn't show. Or, if I get a baaad pedicure like I did todaySmiley Wink. They have so many colors. Look at their website.

You're welcome, nom. They must have not had very many or either they sold out fast as I got the last one. It was a color I liked though and I wore it tonight. I'll post a pic tomorrow.
