Nail Polish- Pricey vs. Cheap?

Hello beauties! I hope you can help with with a question regarding nail polish. I wonder if the pricey polish is worth it compared to the cheapo stuff? I've seen pictures for the Chanel, Dior, Nars, YSL, etc. but are these brands that much better than the cheaper ones I can find at Ulta or CVS? So far, the most I've paid is $14 for butter London. Usually I buy Essie or OPI. If you buy the expensive brands, why? Is it the formula better so the color lasts longer? Is it the colors they offer? If you buy the less expensive brands, do you find they chip faster or damage your nails? Or do they wear great for you? Thank you in advance for your opinions!
