I know about the intense burning these lip products produce. I never bought one because of the burn. I got a sample of the clear one from Ulta and thought I'd try it, OMG!!! This burned like the dickens, I don't know how anyone wears it, it wasn't worth the pain.

If you want burn, exfoliate your lips and then top them off with a lip plumper...or just take my word for it and DON'T! lol

Yikes!  No thanks, I've never had an interest in plumping anything on my body nor face.

Many of those burning type lip plumpers contain capsaicin (red pepper). Causes temporary increased blood flow to the lips and makes them look plump.

Re: NYX Duck Plump

[ Edited ]

@SilleeMee    You got that right!!!  Here in Maryland we eat plenty of steamed crabs during summer.  They are typically steamed with Old Bay seasoning and beer.  Old Bay has red pepper in it.  After a few hours of cracking and eating them, my lips always look so juicy and plump but boy do they burn.  Got to dip them in a cold beer to cool them off!!

But those steamed crabs are so worth the burn 🔥

I thnk it alo draws the blood to the lips giving them a little color.  I have and use Lip Venom, Too Faced Lip Injection Maximum Plumping, Lawless Forget the Filler, Revolution Pout Bomb, and the Tarte Maracuja shimmer plumping lippies.  I have no problem with them and I do use them after exfoliating with Skinn's lip polish since I always use it and a face polish on Sunday mornings. Never had a problem.

If you use them a lot, I think they can be drying.

I wouldn't say they really plump though.  I have yet to use a product that claims to plump the lips that actually do plump them.  The closest I think was a lip gloss that has glitter in it.  That glitter along the lip line gives the impression of plumper lips, to me, even moreso than just a gloss.

Duck in the name of the NYX product turns me off though.  I don't like the duck lip look and it's one reason (besides $$$) that I've never tried any type of filler for my lips.
