You can have some of our humidity......it rarely gets below about 70% humidity in the Summer here on the water. I just look in the mirror at my hair and that tells me what the humidity level is that day. SCARY!!!!
Hi DREAMON, I'm so glad you like this one well enough to wear it too!
When we travel, the extra humidity seems like one of the "exotic" aspects of our destination! With the exception of Houston in August -- the air felt so heavy, I felt like I couldn't draw a breath! But you are right, it certainly does mess with one's hair! On the other hand, it "kisses" one's skin. Must be nice, living at the beach, do you feel like you're on vacation all the time?

Coppery nails and cocktails! This is one made with Campari, an Italian aperitif, infused with quinine. Monks administered it as a malaria treatment. This one is Negroni, made w/ Campari, gin and sweet vermouth.
Cynthia
Campari is so "European", and I've honestly tried to like it, but it's just too bitter for me. I like the patio logo umbrellas, the bottle label, everything but the taste! Now, for medicinal purposes, maybe ...
LOL...when we are at a social event, I usually order a scotch or Campari because I can spend the entire evening with a full glass!! I do like Campari (my father's parents came from Italy), esp with tonic and a slice of lime. Really bitter.
I do like Gin and Tonic with lime. My DH drinks Scotch but I can't even get down a swallow of that without shuddering! He never finishes one either. Now, Margaritas go down really easily, and that seems to be the official New Mexico State Cocktail (NO, I hope there isn't an official State cocktail!!) (And no, I don't have a drinking problem -- never more than a half-glass of wine with dinner or a very rare drink.) I just think, especially when in Europe, ordering a Campari and soda with lime would be so sophisticated.

Copper penny tips. Love the color. Would look fabulous with cobalt blue, then you'd match my kitchen .
My remark about my home- unrelenting negative circumstances. Couldn't print the word I wanted.
Johnny - I joke with a woman who works at the downtown Goodwill joke about Johnny & people who don't know our history look askew at us when we are talking. She got to see Johnny years ago [lucky her]. Right after my sons & I got back from Italy, I found out Johnny was filming in Venice. I like to think he followed in some of my footsteps. He would walk the alleyways at 2, 3 am & that's what my sons did. I have a couple of oil paintings my son has done that I would love signed by Johnny. One is my favorite images from Pirates 1 & the second is on the back of my portrait [a vampire], as Sweeny Todd. The canvas is muslin cloth & it is rippled & old looking. My son hates it, but I love the look, it's what I commissioned & it fits the themes.
Humidity has dropped & I am lifted
.
Have a great weekend Lola.
Ah, a copper & cobalt kitchen motif, patheticcosmetics? Sounds vibrant and cheerful! I just stepped away from the computer to make Crab Rangoons for my lunch. Yum!!
So your DS does portraits? Very difficult, IMHO. You know, I would think perhaps he could contact Johnny through his management company or social media, send a picture of the painting, and maybe, just maybe, get the portrait autographed? It would be a risk to send it to him, but you never know, perhaps paths might cross one day.
The Venice film was maybe "The Tourist" with Angelina? I saw "Third Person" yesterday, despite poor reviews, simply because it was set it Paris & Rome and I liked most of the cast. We OWN a copy of "Sweeny Todd", I love it so much!
Sorry about your housing situation. Doesn't sound like a happy story.
Enjoy your lower humidity!
Mmmm, I just had crab rangoons last night. Leftover Chinese food from my daughter.
Yes, my son finds portrait painting harder to do. My "self-portrait" is from a Halloween picture when I was a prime 35
. I am sitting in my peacock chair in vampire makeup, dress, cat at my feet [didn't know she was there], & my King Cobra snake statue. My son changed the background to me sitting in a castle near a window with a full moon & my cat eating something at my feet. On the flip side is Johnny from the cover of Sweeny Todd, DVD, [ I close my eyes & mute the music once the killing starts]. The colors are black, red, white, gold [I'm wearing a Pirates 1 medallion]. I love your idea to try & contact Johnny. When my son & I saw Donna Summer I tried to get him to ask the roadies if Donna would like to meet one of the artists who painted the green room she stayed in. No go
. He doesn't show off his talent. Yes, the movie was The Tourist. I enjoy The Lone Ranger more than the critics did.
Since you suggested we paint our nails, I did a manicure this morning. I'm wearing Sinful Colors in Nail Junkie. A sheer teal based sparkle color. Very pretty & my nails don't look too bad.
Believe it or not, patheticcosmetics, I have Sinful Colors "Nail Junkie"! I bought it to do one of my very early nail art mani's, a "Mermaid" look. Glad you took my suggestion!

Your Halloween costume portrait sounds really cool! Right down to your cat-as-familiar (I'm going all the way back to "Bell, Book and Candle" for that reference. I agree, I don't always choose to see a film based on the fine critical reviews. "Lone Ranger" not only had Johnny but was also filmed in NM, and that was enough for me. I thought he was smart to get himself "adopted" by Ladonna Harris before the movie premiered to avoid criticism over casting a non-Native American in the role of Tonto. I enjoyed their humorous take on the franchise. The blood and gore of "Sweeny" was too much for me too, the first time I saw it, but I've become inured to it, at least in that film.

Lola, I do love living here but some Winters are very windy and cold..... and I definitely could live without that. It depends on the year... some are mild and some are brutal...last Winter was brutal.
It is very vacation themed here with a casual life style and that fits my Pisces personality perfectly.
Living on the water does come with work. The salt water in the air is really hard on everything and there is constantly something that needs repair. We have all Trex Decking and try and make everything waterproof as possible especially since Hurricane Sandy.
And then there's the company... we are almost never without a house guest on the weekends. This weekend we had friends here but my kids are almost always here on the weekend. I really do enjoy having them here. I sleep good when they leave....I have a 9 month old grandson who never stops!! LOL
I picture your area as Vacation themed also. I would love to vacation there some day.

I LOVE THIS!!! I have a Mermaid theme around my pool and I would fit in perfectly!

I know what you mean about living where people are fond of visiting -- when we lived at the Naval Academy, I believe every person we knew came to stay. I used to feel like a D.C. tour guide! And, you're right, everyone wants to visit Santa Fe (Albuquerque, not so much), but this is to a big degree, a tourist-based economy. It's interesting how much Europeans LOVE the American southwest -- if they've been nowhere else, they've been to the Grand Canyon and often, even skied NM!
Where you have salt water corrosion, we have intense UV damage and blowing dust -- I guess everybody's got something to deal with.
I love beach vacations, but of course we've never seen a cold or rainy day on one. I would imagine you have some peace, quiet and solitude in the winter, but you can always take a vacation to someplace warm to get a break from winters at home.
I would have to go into training to keep up with a toddler! They have seemingly endless energy and need only a nap to recharge!

Glad you like it, DREAMON. It was one of my very first NOTW posts, and if I recall, got not a single comment (but that didn't stop me)!
I didn't give the elements:
Orly "Halley's Comet", 2 coats
Sinful Colors "Nail Junkie", 1 coat
Stamped with China Glaze "Adore" and Bundle Monster BM208 image plate.

Lola, that is just too cool. The mermaid look is beautiful. Well, I've got half of it lol. I've seen Bell, Book, & Candle.
The controversy about Johnny, yet he does have Native American blood. I think it was the mood I was in & my stereo sound system cranked up, but I've never enjoyed the William Tell Overture as much as I did & I got totally caught up in the ending of the movie. Love Hans Zimmer's movie music.

My early introduction to classical music themes was watching "The Lone Ranger" on TV, and many of the cartoons had classical background music! No more!
So, you remember Kim Novak and Pyewacket too!
I heard too Johnny had a valid claim for his adoption. I loved his face painting -- looked pretty realistically like clay ... and drying!! Some of those moving train stunts were amazing!
Thanks, we're "polish twins" in another time.

Polish twins
. Yes, I'm the before, you're the after.
I remember The Lone Ranger show very well, & I have a Lone Ranger DVD. Takes me back. Silver was a beautiful horse. A very good friend of mine got to meet Clayton Moore. She was so thrilled because she had a crush on him. He told her that he liked her sweater
. She actually blushed when I told her what he might have meant.
My grandson in his infinite 16 year old wisdom, said I should try to post my portrait. I don't know how & I don't know if QVC would allow it. I only know how to do research, come on the Beauty Banter, play Angry Birds, & do my e-mail. Pathetic. I'll look into it. Good thing I'm in costume [or am I?], so no one will know what I really look like.
Going to stream a movie from Netflix. Already had a Godzilla marathon. Would love to see 47 Ronin again.
Enjoy your weekend Lola. Look forward to next week's mani.
