Please, if anyone uses or has any experience with this foundation, I really need to know how it worked for you and if you were able to match your color by the description. For nearly two years now I've been 100% spot on when choosing my foundation color on line. I ordered Salzburg - L3.5 - for light skin with neutral undertones. It literally looked WHITE when I first applied it. As it smoothed out, the color became more noticeable but it was still WAY too light. Also the formula was really thick and cakey. Too bad because you get 50% more than in other foundations in this price point. The next neutral shade is 3 shades up...Color: Fiji - L5 - for light to medium skin with neutral undertones. Not sure if I'm going to try it tho. I'd love to hear from anyone that has or currently does use it.
Thanks

@monicakm I am also a light to medium neutral & I do not like matte makeup on me. Have you ever tried Nars Sheer Glow? I used to use it & really liked it. Its a light to med. coverage depending on application. I have normal skin & its not a glowy foundation but more of natural look. I remember trying a dupe for it by Neutrogena & that had more of a glow to the skin.
ETA: Hopefully someone can be more helpful with the Nars Soft Matte who uses it. If its thick & cakey, well that would be no go for me no matter any product I could add to make it work.

Thank you! I've never cared for "glowy" on me. I was watching Jessica Braun last night and she was GLOWING. Looked good on her but I don't know if I could get used to seeing myself like that. So, to answer your question, no, I've never tried the Nars Sheer Glow foundation. I may look into that tho. To be fair, I tried the Nars foundation with no moisturizer or primer. I'm going to give it another try with a properly prepared face.

@monicakm I personally think Nars foundation shades start off darker than most. I am not talking about the one in question, however.

@monicakm I use this foundation. Luckily I can pretty much wear the same foundation shades as Allie Glines. She wears Salzburg and that one works for me as well. Initially that shade was sold out so I had gotten Yukon based on description. I can get away with that one too, but it's a little too pink and the Salzburg looks much better on me. Sounds like maybe you'd lean more toward the medium shades. Did you try the shade finder on the Nars website? I actually tried it just now and it did recommend Salzburg as one of the shades for me. Maybe it will help you.I personally don't find this foundation cakey. It is extremely pigmented so less is definitely more. I apply it with a damp beauty sponge, which I feel helps spread it out easier and not dry quite as quickly.
I've been an Estee Lauder Double Wear gal for some years now, but am always searching for something better and less expensive. The Nars is the first one that I feel is even keel, but with more coverage and a bit better of a price point. I switch between the two now. I hope that you can find your shade and try it again!
