THEFT indeed,  and it's not getting better until there are CONSEQUENCES to be paid,  rather than a revolving door where criminals walk free...  if they are even apprehended.

Sad what is happening to our society.

I haven't seen testers of things like eyeliners or lipsticks since the pandemic.  Nor would I want to.  It would be just my luck someone with pink eye or something tried an eyeliner on their actual eye instead of their hand.

Agree about theft being the cause of everything being locked away, but in general I think Nordstrom as a whole has been on a constant decline as the older members retired and the new guy and younger family members took over.  Bit by bit I could see what made Nordstrom fabulous disappearing.

Sadly, Nordstrom has really gone downhill. Service is still good. Free s&h. Friendly. But, they don't carry a large variey of stock in the cosmetic area. Maybe a few color choices.

They do price match - which is a good thing no one else does.

Clothes are either expensive designer brand or teen, young adult. Not my fav anymore.

And they will no longer give you the sample atomizers filled with something to try. Neither my Nordstroms or big Sephora give samples any longer. This is in Milwaukee.

Nordstrom changed when the the reins changed from the generation running it to their offspring. Wanting to change the "vibe" of stuffy Nordstorm (their words), OUT went the piano, out went the flat counters in cosmetics and in came the vertical ones (a mess and made theft even worse), out went the CS department, out went their Giving Tree at Christmas, out went the true service in their restaurants....so many things changed and all for the worse.

I have two very good friends who were long-term employees of Nordstrom and they noticed issues right away. One left and took her customers to Saks. The other stayed and was robbed of her pension along with a number of other "older" women. Their lawsuit is almost over and from all accounts, it appears Nordstrom will be paying out quite a sum.

My local store went from a Class A to a Class C. It's a joke with no high end merchandise to be found. It is definitely NOT what it once was and I wonder if the founders are rolling in their graves seeing what their grandchildren have done to the business.

@Franklinbell. That’s nice my use to but I wanted a sample of a Tom ford and it was a no go. I’m can’t spend $300.00 on a perfume not knowing I’m in love with it. Spritzing it at the store is not enough.

I think part of the reason for not displaying the perfume testers is the violent allergic reactions some other shoppers experience.  Perhaps they should rope off a testing area.  What a ball for some people, spray away.

@depglass I never thought about allergic reactions! In the future I’ll be more cautious when I’m sampling new fragrances.

As for allergies I don’t buy it. If you have a known fragrance allergy then steer away from the perfume counter. What boggles the mind is how can the person in charge at my Nordstrom not see the difference in atmosphere, layout, and SA’s when there is a Macys, Nieman Marcus, and a Bloomingdale’s within steps from each other? I have been tempted so many times to reach out to whoever’s in charge and ask them to justify their decisions. My Macys kicks **s with the floor layout, numerous SA’s, huge perfume counters, Tom Ford etc., and it is such a delight to shop there. They even have 15% off ALL cosmetics and perfume about every six weeks. My Nordstrom puts teeny tiny signs literally like two when they price match and I don’t think Chanel is included. The 15% is even on Macys website. Also at my Macys I get SA’s who will text me when they are having specials. I know many times at other stores they never call back when I leave my number.
