Yeah, I'm sure you thought that. Because everybody has stuff planted on their head, right?
We get it.
Yeah. We get it. I just don't get the rudeness of people here.

She knew too.

Hi Moon River!
I don't know if this would help you, but in 2006 my now ex husband decided after 20 years of marriage I wasn't so great.
So I filed for divorce.
Seven months after I filed, my whole family died and I was left alone at 46 years old with no one.
I had to move across the country and start my life all over again.
I noticed my long hair was coming out in clumps, and the temples were the first to show it.
Trauma and stress will do that.
It was coming out in handfuls and I couldn't stop it.
I started taking 10,000 mcg. of Biotin every day.
It was amazing what it did for me.
My hair grew back and all of the bald spots grew new hair and I have the same hair pattern I did when I was a kid.
It all grew back and it is full again!
I still take it and my hair is healthy and not falling out in clumps.
Very little comes out in the comb, brush or in the shower now.
Give it a try!
I wish you the best!!

I've been experiencing this for at least 20 years and have tried everything mentioned above with no luck! I knew I couldn't afford transplants but was seriously thinking about trying to find a wig when I saw a presentation for the HairMax lasercomb in January of this year. I had ordered it about a year previously and changed my mind--never even took it out of the box and returned it. This time I bit the bullet and have been using it 3 times/week, along with Minoxidil (generic Rogaine) which came along with the HairMax professional I purchased. I didn't tell my hairdresser I was doing it, and, just as they advertise, right before the 4-month deadline to send it back, I got my hair cut and my hairdresser was amazed at how much more hair I now have--she was telling all the other stylists in the salon!
I had also tried Rogaine many years ago and it irritated my scalp, but I used the men's version, thinking the stronger stuff would work better, so that was probably the problem.
I'll be very happy to continue using the laser comb and minoxidil for the rest of my life if it keeps my hair in place! I've been so miserable for so many years with my scalp showing and see-through hair. I will probably continue taking 10,000 mcg of Biotin also--figure I can use all the help I can get!

I think biotin is key. I just started 5,000 mcg then got the Andrew Lessman Hair, Skin and Nails supplement which adds another 4,000. I was wondering if 9,000 might be overkill, but apparently not! I believe excess is flushed out, anyway.
So sorry that happened to YOU, but thanks for the mention of biotin!

Moon River,
I don't have any thinning problems but agree that you need to try the biotin. I know of a few friends who have used this supplement and have had great results.

OP and All--You have my understanding about what a "pixxer" this condition is. I have used 5% generic rogaine foam and 5000 biotin for 1 1/2 years and it has worked, especially at the hairline. The foam is very convenient to use, unlike that oily old liquid rogaine.

Hair loss with age is unpleasant, a bit disconcerting.........and very, very common. Many women deal with hair loss due to heredity, hormonal changes, etc. My mom and all of her sisters had very thin hair late in life, and I guess I'm following suit. In my 60's, I can manage it just fine with a good, short, layered cut and style and using volumizing products. Later, who knows? If it gets bad enough, I guess I'll consider a wig. Nobody likes having thinning hair, but we don't have to see it as tragic or devastating. The death of a child is tragic; cancer can be devastating. Thinning hair is unpleasant, but how about seeing it as just another of life's challenges to deal with and overcome? I like that view better.

Have you had any side effects? Do you use the foam in the morning or night? On dry or wet hair? Does it leave any residue on your hair?
Thanks

GoodStuff, thanks for putting things in perspective.
