Does anyone have any tips or suggestions to share?

In the summer I like to lighten-up my foundation to make it more sheer.

To avoid finding a summer foundation formula what I do is take my foundation and

add a drop of JM liquid bronzer

add a dallop of lightweight facial lotion

mix on the back of my hand and apply.

I am thinking of 'pre-mixing' and putting into a small make-up pot that came with a little spatula and using it this way.

Has anyone had any luck with doing something like this?

I was only going to mix perhaps a weeks worth at a time for freshness.

TIA

I have never done any mixing but this sounds like a great idea!  I see nothing wrong with mixing up a batch for a week.  That way you are prepared and ready to go and it should remain fresh.  I have read several places to just take some of your foundation and mixe it with your moisturizer and it makes the foundation a little lighter in texture and also eliminates 1 step!

I like L'oreal true match liquid foundation and I have a shade I use when I'm tanned and a shade for when I'm not - sometimes I mix them on the back of my hand when I need something in the middle. That's as far as I go with mixing.

I like to mix IT's CC cream with their Bye Bye Undereye because the concealer can be a bit heavy.  I mix it on the back of my hand each time before I use it, though.  I wonder whether the different formulas would separate out rather than staying mixed and it would end up giving you worse results than mixing them just before use.

I've never mixed my foundation with anything. Since I wear a pressed mineral type foundation, that's hard to do. So I just buy a shade darker for summertime and go lightly when applying it.Woman Happy

There probably isn't anything wrong with mixing up a batch of your summer formula, but it seems like extra work to me.  I think I'll just continue to use the back of my hand for mixing products to adjust colors and formulas for the seasons.

I do the same thing. I've considered pre-mixing, but I haven't. One of the reasonsI mix is because it lets me customize each day, depending on how I feel.or what I need. If It hot and humid, I will skip luminizer because I'll be struggling with too much "glow" already. If I've got my redness, I might use a little more foundation. If I'm feeling dry, I might use a different moisturizer in my mix or add some a drop of oil. It doesn't take much time to mix and allows more flexibility.

I think that if you have a stable combo you use every day, you could easily mix up a little jar. I think only doing a week at a time is a good idea. I know that some moisturizers make my foundation oxidize more quickly and turn much darker or orange Mixing a foundation in advance may cause it to oxidize more. Bacterial might also be an issue. But I say give it a try! If you only do a week at a time, you didn't waste much if it doesn't work and if it does work, you've saved yourself a little prep time every morning.

@Abrowneyegirl

I've been mixing my mineral foundation powders for about 7 years to allow for shade changes in the summer.  Like most people, I'm darker in the summer months than I am in winter.

I love the simplicity of mineral foundation, but I found using just "beige" looked a little muddy on me.     I have pinkish (cool tone) skin, so I mix in a tad of rose colored mineral powder blush, a little champagne colored illuminizer and a little powdered bronzer to adjust for suntan.  I also add a little Bisque for more coverage.    (The illuminizer eliminates the muddy look).

I mix up a little batches that last for about a month.

For the batch I made last week, I also added a little Tinted Mineral Veil with an SPF 25 ....   it only takes about 5 minutes to do this, and I am very pleased with the results.

@Abrowneyegirl    I know this probably won't help you if you use liquid foundation exclusively, but thought I'd add what works very well for me.

I've never premixed a certain amount, but I have mixed a small pump of tinted moisturizer with my foundation in the palm of my hand. I have also mixed non tinted moisturizer with foundation. I started doing this when I wanted to move from heavier foundations to lighter coverage. It was a way to slowly wean myself off of regular foundations. Now I pretty much just use a tinted moisturizer for coverage all year and use concealer as needed.
