Mixing Two Mascaras for Perfect Lashes!!!

I like Mally's mascara for volume but it always smears under my eyes. So I've started applying a coat of it and then using my tubular mascara (Kevyn Aucoin) over it and wow...my lashes look long and full and absolutely no smearing. I think you can use any tubular mascara and it will work for you but I like the Aucoin brand best. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

Glad you found a solution that works for you! My favorite anti-smudge trick is a coating of Anastasia's Lash Genius over whichever mascara I'm currently using. I've also heard that Cover Girl makes a clear mascara that does the same thing when you brush it over your regular black or brown mascara, but I haven't tried that one yet.

Also sounds like a good idea to avoid smudging. I like adding the tubular mascara because it's a layer of color and volume which really brings out my eyes and it's the only kind of mascara that never leaves those dark smudges under my eyes. Even waterproof smudges on me, always has.

There are numerous lash primers out there -- can't you just use one of those with your favorite mascara?

I have always mixed my mascaras. The only thing that holds my curl is Maybelline Colossal Waterproof then I do a second coat of lengthening mascara. Currently using MD Lash and it is fantastic. It lasts for almost 6 months and gives me a nice length.

Lash primers can be great for "beefing up" the effects of your favorite mascara, but in my experience, they can't prevent smudging because they are applied under the mascara.

A tube type mascara, such as virgosun prefers, or a clear topcoat, as I like to use, will work beautifully. I'm another on whom everything smears, so I'm thankful to have a few options. For years, I had to carry a small bottle of mascara remover and Q-tips in my makeup bag, because I always had raccoon circles after a few hours.

I agree with sharlee, primers don't really do anything to help with smudging problems, at least in my experience. What works for me now is great because I don't catch myself in a mirror an hour after putting mascara on and seeing those raccoon eyes!!!

Thanks for that additional info sharlee and virgosun. I don't really have an issue with smudging, so I've not played around with different solutions. Glad you found something that works for you.
