Just curious how many of you are experiencing the new "mask-ne" they talk about on the Q, and how many hours/mins do you think you wear a mask each day?

@Memebell   Yes, I addressed this in mid-July in the Among Friends forum. It's a real issue causing rashes, irritation and acne.

So far I've been fortunate as my situation at the moment does not require prolonged wearing.

I do get uncomfortable in the heat however, and could see how this would be a problem.

Do the math.

I'm an RN and I wear a mask for 12.5 hours.  I'm experiencing a very dry, flaky chin and acne.  At 60.

I wear a mask sporadically several hours a day. I've been getting blackheads on my nose and occasional outbreak on my chin. I'm also in a very humid area (which probably doesn't help). I'm in my mid 40's and haven't experienced any prior skin issues (since teenage years), so do think the mask is the cause.

I have a problem with this here + there.  My husband has been in the hospital a lot off + on.  I , also, had to take him every day for awhile for treatments for cancer.  I broke out some for the first in quite awhile, not a lot but my skin felt sore in places.  I put Isomers Copper P on and that really helped.

I've been experimenting to find a mask-ne solution. So far, a friend told me about using a primer that mattifies. She has dry skin, but says it keeps the oils down under her mask...she suggested Smashbox.

I've also stepped up my cleansing routine and have been doing a double cleanse, using a toner w/ AHA to clean out pores & I'm wearing Retin A every night to exfoliate. Yes, I'm experiencing some peeling since I've also cut back on rich moisturizers.

DD, a hygienist, wears Bare Minerals powder foundation instead of a liquid tinted foundation. That's what I used to wear to the gym, so am now using that lightly under my mask...all natural and somehow is a buffer under the mask. BTW, changed DH's cleansing/moisturizer routine, too.

I saw something about it on Inside Edition and a dermatologist said not to wear makeup under it and wash after each wear if you are having breakouts or a reaction.

@chiclet   I've been washing my mask in my Cetaphil that I cleanse my face with in the mornings since I don't need a makeup remover. It's more gentle on the mask, doesn't leave a residue and therefore less to irritate my face.
