Just curious how many of you are experiencing the new "mask-ne" they talk about on the Q, and how many hours/mins do you think you wear a mask each day?

@Memebell I have no idea what this is as I don't watch much Q except for a couple of vendors.
I wear a mask to any medical/dental appointments or to the grocery store (luckily my pharmacy is within my Safeway). If I go outside to the mailbox I mask up.
I can't be bothered to keep track of the hours.

@Love my grandkids @You are not alone. I had never heard of it either until Shawn has brought it up in her beauty shows. I am assuming it is facial irritation and breakouts from wearing a mask non-stop, similar to acne. I, like you, wear one only a very small portion of my day as I am limiting my trips out. I have had no skin issues from wearing them a short time and haven't heard of this being a real "beauty" issue.
I was just curious how many ppl are actually wearing one long enough to cause what they are using as a selling point for beauty products now.

I saw something about it on Inside Edition and a dermatologist said not to wear makeup under it and wash after each wear if you are having breakouts or a reaction.

@Memebell My daughter (sure she'd appreciate me sharing that info lol) and one of her teacher friends are. They've been in their school, moving furniture and helping to set up prior to the start of the school year. They both wear cloth masks and the a/c in the school is not so great so there has been much sweating involved.
Once school starts the district will give them a certain type of mask to wear, but while they are in the setting up phase it's bring their own. They have several fabric masks and rotate them frequently, washing after each use.
I haven't had any issue with the mask acne, but then again I rarely leave my home and if I do it's early morning so I can get my walk in before others are out and about.

The only place I go is to the grocery or picking up food somewhere. I've not had any reaction thus far.

Only every 2 weeks do I have a mask on for quite a few hours. Other than that I only wear it for a very short time occasionally. I don't know how people can stand it that must wear them all day long, every day. I would guess that you do get used to them to a degree. I don't think it's a good idea to wear foundation under the mask, as I think this could create skin issues. And really, what's the point, if your face is all covered up anyway?

This is happening to people who WORK in a mask...you know those who wear them all day serving those who wear them for only a short time when they leave their home...it's a real problem especially for those who work in hot conditions.

My daughter is a dental assistant and has been having breakouts with psoriasis more than any acne. It is overwhelmingly warm when you are working in scrubs, gown, gloves, mask and face shields for endless hours. Thankfully her doctor lets her break often and go outside to unmask and let her skin get some air. Even though Dental offices have been wearing some of these items for many years now (all the years I was in the field) with the extra layers now it is very uncomfortable but necessary.

For many with sensitive skin it can be a problem, especially if you get sweaty and don't change your mask. But the skeptic in me thinks it's more a sales tactic being used on the Q.
