Mally Perfect Poreless Primer Problem

I have the Mally Primer in a jar - great stuff, in case you were wondering - but I have a problem with the jar. Well, actually the lid of the jar. It's covered in pink metallic paint that is now flaking off, all over everything, including my hands. It's making a royal mess and I have half a jar left. I thought about transferring it to another container but under the jar lid is an air tight plastic cover thing. I would imagine that's an important component. Anyone have any suggestions?
