Mally Mascara Question

I recently got a Mally eye set which has the volumizing mascara (waterproof). While I think I generally like the look of the mascara....I feel like it is tacky and seems to goop off like thick tar in the heat if I am sweating. Plus my eyes seem a bit more irritated. Does this ring true for anyone else?? Am I wearing this wrong?? I have put on several coats...perhaps too much?? Why is everyone having such positive results with this?? Thanks for the help.
