Makeup Brushes: Friend or Foe?

I used to like collecting brushes, had the whole Bobbi Brown set for a hundred bucks, as well as many many I got in kits. I had to rotate them because I had so many.

One day I got sick of them. Sick of storing them, rotating them, cleaning them every week. I figured I had plenty of hair on my head to deal with, without adding goat and squirrel and pony hair to the mix. I threw them all out except for a few favorites from BB and Smashbox. I only use two or three products that need brushes. Now I find it tedious to add that extra step to applying makeup. I'd rather use a cream to powder blush and dab on with my fingers, than pull out my brush and use that. If they made a pencil eyeliner that stayed on as well as BB's gel eyeliner, I'd ditch the BB eyeliner and brush in a second. I fantasize about being completely brush free. How lazy can I get? I don't know why my heart turned away from my beloved brushes, but I've lost that lovin' feeling and I don't think it's coming back.
