Hello to everyone, my name is Cassie. It's been years since I've been a part of the QVC forum community but I need really IMPORTANT help and I knew where to turn! If you can believe this, I am 63 years old and to be honest, know practically NOTHING about make-up. A little eye liner and mascara (if that) and I'm out the door. I guess I find myself in this predicament because through my whole life, I NEVER had anyone teach me anything about make-up. But now, I have facial issues that literally have me avoid mirrors at all costs. VERY depressing. I'm looking for I guess what is called full coverage foundation, but NOT make me look like a clown! I have.......quite a lot of freckles, acne scars, brownish colored age spots, usually oily face and bad under eye bags (though they do lessen as the day progresses.) A REALLY HOT MESS!! I'm too old and ugly to expect any miracles.
BUT I can't stand it one more day having all these awful imperfections staring back at me in the mirror. Am I right that just a "concealer" would be for individual "bad" spots, and not meant for complete coverage? I do have 1 or 2 spots that might be helped by a concealer, not really sure.
I'm really hoping for everyone out there who knows what I'm talking about, maybe being in my position or having once been there, to help me (and my mental health) !
Enough is enough!! Praying for all the help I can get. Sadly, I'm not in a position to start a total beauty regimen that I should have done 40 years ago. But I might smile a bit more if you can help me tackle this most negative issue.
My most sincere thanks in advance,
Cassie

I'm 71. I've been using the full coverage IT CC Cream for a year or so -- love love love it - I don't even use concealer any more. It took me three tries to get the right shade - you'd be better off going to Sephora, Macys or Ulta to test the shades. I apply it with the IT brush by the way. It's not thick or heavy but the coverage is honestly miraculous.

Everyone here has their favorites. You are going to get a lot of different answers. Do you have a Sephora near you? They give makeup lessons, and they sell so many different brands so chances are you might find one you like. Also scout around the department store beauty counters. Look for a salesperson that has makeup on that you find attractive. Ask her for help. The trouble with most department stores now is they do not take makeup back. What I do is buy it and also ask them for a sample. I try the sample at home and if I don't care for it they will take unopened makeup back. (most stores anyway) Good luck. I find the hardest makeup to buy is foundation.

@Giving Up - My first recommendation - if you aren't already doing this - is to start with a cleanser, exfoliant, and moisturizer. This will keep your skin looking fresh and will help whatever makeup you decide on to look better and go on easier. There are lots of good drugstore cleansers, exfoliants, and moisturizers out there so you don't have to spend a lot.
My recommendation for makeup is the IT CC and Glow foundation/CC cream. I love it! It has an spf of 40 which is important. I would go to either Sephora or ULTA and get shade matched. The "glow" in this cream will not make you look like a disco ball or anything like that but it does add a nice finish to your skin.
There are other tinted moisturizers that you can try also. ELF has one but I haven't tried that one; Bareminerals has one so there are other options too.
Good luck!

@Giving Up Hi Cassie, Don't give up! As others have mentioned go somewhere like Sephora, Ulta or a department store for some foundation help.
My current favorite foundation is by Clinique called "Beyond perfecting foundation & concealer". I had help choosing my shade at the Clinique counter at Macys. The good thing about this foundation is that it's both a full coverage and concealer. It comes in something like 50 shades and is good for all skin types.
I also add a pore blurring primer. Mine is by Benefit. It smooths out the foundation...sort of like a foundation for your foundation and goes on first. All of this is very light on my skin and I only add a few dots of the foundation on either side of my face. I will apply it with a stippling type of makeup brush with a pouncing motion. It gives great coverage.
I would also suggest that once you find the right foundation to add just a small amount of blush high up on your cheek bones for a hint of color.

I would ask @Shanus. She's quite a makeup artist and does weddings.
Be thinking if you want foundation with antiaging, and the type of eyelid you have. Mine are deep set and I use a shadow base.

Bless your heart. Please don't give up. If you can afford it, I would start with skin care products to help your complexion. I know you said you're oily but applying products that zaps the oil only causes you to produce more. I don't have oily skin so I can't help with products. The better your complexion, the better your makeup will look so start by tackling that first. Meanwhile (because treating your skin isn't an overnight thing) you can find a foundation or concealer that will help camouflage your imperfections. Yes, some here wear concealer as an all over foundation. A foundation that many adore for normal to oily skin is Estee Lauder Double Wear. I used to love it but I'm far too dry now to wear it. When you wash your face, is it dry and tight feeling afterward? If yes, you've stripped your face of what it needs and that's a no-no. Same with skincare products. Find a cleanser that will gently clean without stripping your face. Don't use bar soap. Your complexion may be overcompensating for what it needs. Give it what it needs and see if that helps with the oil production. Do you use moisturizer? You need to. Oil production and moisture aren't the same thing. I am not a skincare expert but I know a lot about what MY own skin needs. We have the opposite issues. Good luck.

I'm really not much help in the makeup department. Perhaps @Shanus can chime in.

You @SilleeMee have a lot of knowledge in what goes into ingredients. Don't sell yourself short. You are authentic and the real deal as is Persiflage. Two professionals that I appreciate here. Thank you as @Giving Up cannot go wrong taking your advice.💕
