I remember some posters saying brushes could be quickly cleaned when done applying MU by using cleansing cloths or baby wipes (cheap generics sold in bulk). Is my memory serving me well?

Ulta has a nice little brush cleaning kit that comes with the cleaner and little "girdles" so your brushes keep their shape while drying, instead of splaying.

little girdles.................{#emotions_dlg.lol}

Good one, Maren!!!!!!!

okay so I checked into the brush trees. Apparently laying your brushes flat to dry doesn't hurt them it just takes longer to dry and takes up more room on your counter. Drying them brush side up can damage the brush as one poster already said. Now these trees, I'm not sure it's worth the price, are 35 and 40 dollars but I guess if you spend a lot of money on brushes it's worth it

I wash my brushes every time I use them with the liquid soap next to my bathroom sink. Since I use the brushes on my face and around my eyes, I want them pristine clean and as bacteria free as possible. I lay them flat on terrycloth to dry and don't have any problems.

Absolutely correct but still need to deep clean every so often to get the build up off. I think the wipes definitely leave a film but it does clean the brushes.

If you buy a cheap stack of microfiber cloths, you can spritz the brush with rubbing alcohol, rub on the micofiber and it is clean and even a bit sanitized. Cheap, too!

Dear JayJay: To keep cosmetics bacteria free, use BeautySoClean spray mist or wipes (use it on the cosmetic itself). Concerning cosmetics brushes, most people use a different brush for each task: foundation, concealer, contour, blush, powder, eyeshadow, eyeliner. Some people wipe them after each use, some do not. Regardless, they need to be deep cleaned weekly. I use the Sigma glove for that, to ensure a thorough cleaning. Best to store upside down when drying; Benjabell tree is perfect solution. Have fun!

I have friends on FB who swear by Dr Bronner's soaps like his Eucalyptus Castile Liquid Soap. I plan to try it.

With the increase of synthetic bristles, it is not as critical as to what cleanser is used as they tend to hold up better overall than real hair bristle brushes do. Real hair bristles could be a lot more temperamental - I thought I would use them forever but am finding I like synthetic bristles more and more. They are so soft and seem to shed so much less.

Where do you buy the BeautySoClean spray mist - it sounds handy to have around especially given you can spray it directly on the cosmetics themselves.

Dear Wackers: Their website is beautysoclean.com Their sanitizer mist, unlike alcohol, does not dry out cosmetics. I use it on powders, creams, and gels. Their small wipes can be used on lipsticks, lip pencils, eye pencils, etc. It has never harmed my cosmetics or changed their color. Wonderful product for us germophobes, and peace of mind if you have a substantial cosmetics collection and some pieces are older. Good luck!
