Just read on Temptalia's beauty blog this morning that if you don't have BIG bucks to spend,

Sonia Kashuk's brush kit was chosen as best beauty brush kit of 2014.

Whoops! Forgot to tell you that I love the brush set I bought several years ago, Lauren Hutton's brushes. They really perform well, stand up to years of use (provided you care for them) and have a nice feel in the hand. I think they are still available on her website.

Good Luck!

IT brushes are the best.

The BARE MINERALs brushes I have received in past gift sets shed like crazy. Same for Mally's. Don't know about Tarte's.

I love my Bare Minerals brushes! Many I've had for 10+ years and they still perform like new! I only have three Tarte brushes, which I've had for a couple years. I really like those too!

Both sets are a good price. If you can't decide between the two, I'd go with the set that has the brushes that suit your needs best.

I got a bunch of bare minerals brushes last year and they all shed and the handles of several are loose :-( I wouldn't buy their brushes again. I have a couple IT brushes that came with kits and they're super nice. No shedding, soft, dense and apply like a dream! I also have a couple sephora brushes the higher end ones and they're nice too.

Last year I bought a 3 piece brush set at ULTa by Real Techniques for under $20. The brushes are extremely soft and include, powder brush, foundation & eye shadow. Easy to wash and you never lose the bristles.

BE brushes have always been a mess for me - shedding, don't feel that soft on the skin. I even tried some again within the last year and although they were softer than those in the past, the shedding was still as bad as ever.

I also really like Real Techniques but am very temped to pick up the IT buki brushes. She makes such a nice brush and this kit is pretty unique. I caught a presentation this morning and Albany highlighted how much thicker these buki brushes were than even IT's regular line. I also like the size/length of the handles - not as short as many buki type brushes which made these seem like the perfect size, especially if your vision isn't what it used to be and you prefer being closer to a mirror to apply your makeup.

I have never tried any of Tarte's brushes but they seem to be well liked. Overall, it does seem like IT brushes get the most raves of the brushes sold here.

I love the It Buki Brush Set so much that I'm taking it with me to Mexico tomorrow instead of packing my travel set. I can't be without it! They are superior to any other brushes in my opinion.
