Lume did not work for me....Am I the only one?

I said in another post that I gave up aluminum in my deoderant years ago.  Went through a ton of aluminum free deoderants that did not work.  I started using Dr. Teals which I get at Walmart for 4 or 5 dollars.  It works great.  However, always thinking the grass is greener, I ordered Lume in orange.  It spelled so bad but I figured the smell would go away after a few minutes.  I was smell free all day but the next morning before my shower I had a little BO in one armpit.  I gave it about two weeks and spread it out all over the pit after my shower each day but result was the same every day.  I am returning it tomorrow.  I just don't understand why it did not work for me.  Before my order came from Lume I did smell some of the Lume deoderants in Target and they smelled fairly good but the one I got in the mail horrible.

So return it.  I only know of one person who bought Lume for the teenage boys in her life.  They are active kids in their stinky years.  Being boys. She gave them unscented.  She also bought the soap for them.  She said it worked.

I don't use deodorant with aluminum in it either. Never tried Lume.

I'm using NutriBiotic mango melon right now. I also like Schmidt's or Crystal. I use stick or roll on. When I apply I just swipe across under my arm once. They all work for me. It's just a matter of if it's sticky tacky. Not using that. I could go without deodorant. Never had BO. For some reason I don't sweat much under my arms?

@chiclet You are not the only one.

I don't know why or how but everytime I go onto Facebook, I get an ad for Lume.

Not sure why they think I need it. I have never searched for deodorants, perfume etc.

But there is an ad from Lume.

And there are many disappointed customers. BUT the posts disappear quickly. So generally all that you see are favorable reviews. Last night I got an ad and it was filled with dissatisfied customers. Many returned the product and never got a refund. Others ordered 3 items and got one. Others have not been able to contact customer service. And all the rest did not like the product. It was there at 11:30PM last night and gone today.

The Administrator seems to constantly monitoring. So generally all you ever see are glowing reviews.

When a Lume ad popped up, I hit the "block" feature on my computer. Imagine my surprise when another pop-up appeared and asked if I wanted to take a survey about Lume!! I've never used Lume, but am so sick of the annoying ads on TV, that I did take the survey. Smiley Tongue

Gave the ads a very low rating and said I NEVER wanted to see them again because I felt they were gross and offensive to those who had proper hygiene.

I also felt their ads would be received much better if given by an individual with a softer voice and who wasn't so "rough around the edges".

Who expects a deodorant to last for up to 72 hours???

And who uses a deodorant in those places???

Haven't seen a Lume ad since!

Lume works by altering the skin's pH (with AHA mandelic acid, the active ingredient in Lume) so that bacteria won't grow and stink up the joint. But in order for that to happen there needs to be a clean slate to begin with. In other words, disinfecting the area well before applying the deodorant will help the deodorant do it's job. Try a little disinfecting wash or diluted 70% alcohol before applying the Lume.

I let those ads influence my decision not to buy it.  I was perfectly satisfied with the Crystal deodorant that I use.  But, I ended up impulsively ordering the orange and the unscented fragrances and they both stink badly when first applied.  Then the scent changes, even the supposedly unscented one.  Everytime I raise my arms, I smell it.  Not offensive but I don't like it. Better than being musty but I'm disappointed..

Yes, some of uout more natural touted ones contain potassium alum which is aluminum salt. I like Mill Creek brand that is aluminum free, find it on several sites..
