Re: Looking for Powder for Coverage

Thought I would throw out a thread I started awhile back on a similar topic. I don't know if this is the same Maybelline product you are referring to or not, but I was so sorry to see the Maybelline Pure Stay Powder Foundation discontinued. From suggestions I got, I am now using the Palladio foundation that you buy at Sally's.

Have you tried Pur-Minerals? Look up the ingredients & reviews on the Ulta Website.

Re: Looking for Powder for Coverage

Hi there,

First of all, whichever powder foundation you decide to purchase, make sure it is rated SPF 15 or greater and provides sufficient UVA protection. Also, if you are not likely to apply the powder foundation with SPF liberally and evenly, it is best if you first apply a moisturizer with SPF 15 or greater, and then apply the powder foundation on top.

A good one, especially for sensitive skin, is Colorscience's Mineral Foundation SPF 20. It provides Medium to Full Coverage and contains titanium oxide and zinc oxide for SPF. It is rich in pigments and the highly milled texture makes it easy to apply and build coverage. It is packaged with an attached brush and you get best results when you apply it by swirling the brush around. It is best to pair it with a daytime moisturizer or foundation rated SPF 15 or greater. You can purchase it online (i.e.: skincarerx.com - they have daily discounts and you can purchase it at 25% off all the way to 50% off)/

Other good ones that provide medium coverage are:

Clinique's Almost Powder Makeup SPF 15

Laura Mercier's Mineral Pressed Powder SPF 15

Armani's Lasting Silk UV Compact SPF 34

Maybelline New York's Age Rewind Protector Finishing Powder SPF 25 (NB: L'Oreal owns both Maybelline and Giorgio Armani!)

Re: Looking for Powder for Coverage

Is Armani's Lasting Silk Powder a hydrating powder? I read raves about Armani foundations so am curious about this one. In a recent Instyle Beauty Edition magazine, it was named by a few editors as their HG of foundations. I've seen it raved about on many other sites too for a long time.

At one point, I was trying to find somewhere locally to buy one of their liquids but since I no longer use liquid foundations, I gave up that hunt. But this powder sounds interesting since they seem to have such high quality, albeit expensive, face products. I do think a good foundation can be invaluable though.

This foundation powder is good for those with tendentially dry skin

Re: Looking for Powder for Coverage

Most drugstores carry it (tho Walgreen's here stopped awhile ago) as well as Ulta and maybe even Target and Walmart. I don't buy many cosmetics at Target or Walmart so not as sure about them. I know CVS does for sure.
