Re: Let's get real about Botox. How much does it average per year?

If botox is done conservatively it WILL prevent the furrowing of brows that creates 11's, it WILL prevent squinting that causes crows feet and WILL NOT prevent raising and lowering eyebrows or other expressions.Fillers used properly WILL fill nose to mouth lines and under eye hollows and DO NOT puff out your skin.Using extreme examples of people who have over done these procedures doesn't really add to the conversation.

At what age did most of you start using Botox?

52, but Botox had just come out for cosmetic use. LOL! It was to be another year after that before Restylane came out, and replaced Collegen injections.

I use Retin A and Vitamin CE Ferulic serum. It cost me about $200 every 3 - 4 months. I have a friend who uses botox and some other filler and spends thousands of dollars a year on them plus her daily use of what I use. That is just crazy. I refuse to have Botox and filler injected into my body. I swear, some day int he future they are going to find that long term is cause horrible things.

right at about 44 or 45--not long ago. I just get it in #11 area. I have few wrinkles due to minimizing sun exposure and Retin A. But, Botox is "awesome"!

Shoekitty and Winamac1,

Thank you, I am just now starting to think about it, I do't have 11's but getting some lines in the nasal labia folds, maybe filler would work better for me?

I go to my dermatologist every 4 months to get botox. I use it in the 11s, crow's feet, a few pokes above my eyebrows and one shot in my chin (!). Just started the chin but it really helps with the wrinkles there. I spend $400.00. It really makes a huge difference in how I look.

That sounds so cheap!Where do you live?

I live in the San Diego area. My derm has monthly specials which usually includes botox and fillers. I also use Brilliant Distinctions which allows me to save points and use coupons for savings.

Nana of five....I also live in the San Diego area. Would you mind telling me what doctor you go to out here and where he's located? TIA.......

Hi Helen. I go to Dermacare in the Carlsbad/La Costa area.

Re: Let's get real about Botox. How much does it average per year?

I agree that early to mid 40's is generally an ideal time to start. I had a cosmetic dermatologist when I lived in CO and he said the trick is to start these procedures before real set in damage is apparent. If you start them before that, then it tends to look more natural and gives the appearance that you are just aging well. Nothing wrong with doing later on but it may be more noticeable at that point from a before and after viewpoint. But who cares - anyone has the right to do what they want.

I so agree that good skincare and professional procedures are not at all exclusive. Can't imagine why any would think they are. Even those having major facelifts require good skincare. We don't have procedures on the rest of our bodies generally but think most still take care of that skin too. Look at the money spent on body products today. Philosophy alone makes a fortune off them.

Re: Let's get real about Botox. How much does it average per year?

I'm a recent Botox, in the early fall, and fillers, a couple weeks ago, user. I made a detailed YT video about the fillers as well as a great before and after video so it's all out there for the public to judge.

I'm 55 and have great skin for my age. Was never a sun worshipper, didn't play outdoor sports, not a gardener. My genes are good as my mother has great skin in her mid 80s. I have always used great skincare with good ingredients including Retin A since I was 35 or 40, can't remember, and wear SPF since the same time. I do experiment when new skin care lines come out. Like a moth to the fire!

I said it in the video and saying it here. Nothing could do what the fillers did. I love them. I don't have very deep 11's but the Botox did help. I think if you have deep 11s, Botox will make a huge difference after a couple of treatments.

Personally, I will only do fillers and Botox with Groupons, Amazon Local or Living Social deals.

I don't know annual cost since I just started but based on my experience, with Groupon, I'm guessing Botox 3x a year at $250 each. Fillers every 9 months at $700.

For me, it is not about the cost it is about the very fast, very visible, real results. I'm fortunate the money does not stand in the way. I continue with buying and trying good skin care as I want even tone and firmness. The firmness is a losing battle. Sagging is my main concern. Trying the SSC egg until such time I may or may not have lifting work done, particularly on my eyes.
