Let’s Talk Collagen Powder

I started using Collagen powder ~9 months ago.  I add it every morning to my coffee and have tried several brands, including Codeage, Alaya, Vital Proteins, and just ordered Live Conscious.

Do any of y'all use Collagen powders?  If so, what is your favorite brand and what improvements in your beauty/health have you experienced, if any?

I love to hear your input!

Re: Let’s Talk Collagen Powder

I've used Vital peptide collagen...with hyaluronic.

Few months on it, and it didn't seem to do anything i could notice...nails, skin, hair...same.  then I just couldn't bring myself to drink it anymore,  yet it didn't cause any unwanted side effects  or taste bad...I just started to disgust it...threw the last container out.

I won't buy any others anymore either.

Sorry...I hope you find something that suits your needs...no more for me.

I take my collagen in capsules, prefer it to powders that need to go in drinks. I use either Nutriflair or Nutrivein, both contain 5 different types of collagen and no tilapia, they use fish of a better quality. Directions say to take 3 daily, I take just 2, I feel it is enough for me. 2 are 1500 mgs.

@SurferWife

I've been using Vital Protein Collagen Powder on and off, more on lately (last 3 years) for many years (maybe 7 total?, not sure). Buy in bulk at Costco.

    And the only real noticeable difference is in my knees. My knees were starting to ache at times (with more activity) and collagen powder has gotten rid of that.

    But the biggest improvement has been for my husband. I started him on it 3 years ago when I really noticed my knee improvement because he had really bad knees and was getting steroid injections (I think that's what it's called) and hyaluronic acid injections and was contemplating surgery.

Well, after 6 months of everyday use he was completely pain free and is very active and doing things he wasn't able to do before. When he misses a week he notices.

So, It totally works for us.

I initially started for more beauty reasons, skin health mostly and I think it helps with that too.

All though, I think that's a case where it isn't really that noticeable.....you just have to trust the process kind of thing and I do trust it based on some recent studies saying it does help with collagen.

@SurferWife good to "see" you.  i take Vital Protein ice pop daily. it has improved my knee mobility.  still waiting on the skin and hair improvements.  The decrease in knee pain is significant, particularly when climbing stairs, so i will continue for that reason.

Oh, also. I forgot,  I notice an improvement in my gut health on collagen powder. My tummy isn't as sensitive on it.....so knees and gut  and hopefully skin for me.

Re: Let’s Talk Collagen Powder

I have been using Collagen Powder for about 5 years.

I hurt my knee and hobbled around for weeks. Decided to try collagen since nothing seemed to help my knee, even the Doctor. Took it for several weeks, Did not notice any improvement. So stopped taking it.

Got tired of hobbling around. So figured I would finish the container of collagen. And I eventually did notice an improvement. So have been taking it ever since.

As for beauty. I have not noticed any difference but I also wasn't looking for any change. I am now 74 and still have no wrinkles. But I swear I have no wrinkles because I used Ethocyn for 25 years. I have always had fine hair and still do. My thumb and index finger nails are a mess. But I always seem to be picking or using them for stuff they weren't designed to do. Other wise my nails are in good shape but always were.

But as long as my knee does not hurt and I am not hobbling, I am taking the collagen. I have been taking Andrew Lessman's.

@drizzellla @GingerHead @mizree @Shelbelle @SilleeMee

Thank y'all for your input.  I do enjoy using Collagen.  I think if anything I've noticed a difference in my hands.  I work on a computer 10-11 hours a day and I don't seem to have the wrist/joint pain that I had prior to using it.  I've been trying various brands trying to find my favorite.  I've used Codeage more than all the others, so if I don't see/feel anything greater with the Live Conscious brand, I will probably go back to it.

As far as beauty, my nail tech notices my nails are much longer when I go in for my appointment, which I'm really not crazy about.  I like short nails, so that benefit of Collagen doesn't matter to me.

I'll definitely keep taking for it my joints.  I've read a number of reviews that have stated when someone stopped using it, they could tell a difference.

I have a Doctor's appointment in two weeks, so I think I'll ask her what she thinks about Collagen.

Thanks again!  Have a great weekend!

Re: Let’s Talk Collagen Powder

Of course ask your doc, but dont be shocked if us ladies here know more than he or she does, docs dont seem to know very much about things like that or supplements. Unless they are also trained in other forms of medicine.
