Hiya girls. Given theres been a few recent threads, questions on the Ready Foundation I thought it would be cool to 'bring back' what Leslie had originally written to all of us right prior to the Launch back in August 2012. In it she addresses first hand experiences on how it wears in the heat, touched on the Precision Brush and applications briefly.
To Ms Trixi, it was Peru, not Brazil. I was close, eh?!
'''''I thought it would be helpful for me to give you a little insight on the READY foundation that we are launching very shortly nationwide. It has been on QVC and I will be presenting it on August 25th and it will ship out at the end of the month. Jessica was on air last week with READY foundation and sold a lot more than we expected (and we expected a lot). My point is, that we are already getting a bit limited on the QVC kit and the stuff hasn't even hit the stores yet. Don’t worry, we will have product at the Retail locations.
Let me first tell you about the qvc pricing and then I will give you my insight on the whole thing. READY is priced at $29. The special synthetic brush is priced at $28. Total is $57. QVC price is $39.96. I think that is incredible savings. QVC.com has a pic of the brush; it is a full head, angled and solid packed bristles. Quite the face brush. It can be used for loose as well.
Some of you saw the ad in the NYT last Thursday. I was excited about it because I haven't done one of those in a while. Basically, I explained why we don't like calling any of our foundations "FOUNDATION" because that word has come to imply, heavy and thick. Even BB creams in my opinion can be thick, cream formulas, trust me I have evaluated them all. Women don't want people to see their makeup and they should be picky about it. One of the things we have always believed in is giving women the look and feel of beautiful bare skin. I told the story in the ad about a guy I went out with when I was young and living in NY. He was a jerk. He told me he could see my makeup. I mean, who says that? But, I guess it had an impact on me. This was the 80's but I was still wearing heavy looking makeup throughout that time. I had regular breakouts and I figured at least the makeup was covering but, that isn’t a good theory. Seeing your foundation is completely unacceptable in the modern era. It defeats the purpose. If you are wearing foundation to cover uneven skin tone but you can SEE the makeup than what have you accomplished? So, bareMinerals was brought to the public and now we see beautiful, natural-looking even skin without the cake.
Many of you on my Facebook page already use bareMinerals foundation. I assume you do if you are hanging out here. J READY is a new format, a new formula and a new idea. Why did we create READY Foundation? Well, even though our bareMinerals Original and Matte are the best-selling foundations out there we know that if we had a portable format than it could serve as another option for loose mineral users and maybe some people who have stayed away from loose because they don't understand it would be up for trying the beauty of bareMinerals formulations. Our products are created to act more like a skincare but unfortunately there are some people that just won't even try our loose -- so now they have no excuse. (wink and smile
)
Will some people switch over to READY exclusively? I think so. Ms. Rabbit, whom you now know, helps me with fb and she posts gorgeous eye looks every Friday. She was a bareMinerals Matte user. Loved it. But she tried READY and she will now use READY exclusively. She loves the ease and the look. I don't think she is going back to matte. She used Golden Medium in Matte – and uses Golden Tan in READY.
Me? I've been using original for a gazillion years. I won't stop using it but I will most definitely use READY foundation as my second formula. This summer I took 2 trips. Two weeks in Peru and 5 days in Montana. I only brought READY with me. In Peru I started out in the Amazon. 95 degrees and 95% humidity. I wore long sleeves to avoid bugs so I was pretty darn hot all day long. My skin looked perfect. I never dripped, it never felt masky, I had the perfect sunblock so I didn't get any burns, my face looked completely natural in the heat and the high sun. Amazing staying power and I didn't feel overdone because my skin looked like skin. So a beautiful report from the hot temperatures. Then, we went to 11,000 feet elevation. Hot sun during the day, cold at night and Dry Dry Dry. Our lips and throats were dry, we were not used to that since we live in the Bay Area where we always have moisture in the air. Yucko on that dry, tight feeling. But, READY foundation has the ability to hydrate the skin - 108% more hydration. And, you will feel that hydration. Instead of the dry air whipping away the little moisture I had left, it held the moisture in so my skin still felt moist and hydrated and nicely plumped out. A beautiful thing. And, I don't know about you, but I am so over the sun causing aging damage to my skin and every night when I washed my face and I could see my skin still looking and feeling radiant and youthful and not parched. Nice.
In Montana, I was a cowgirl and I really didn't want to look like I was wearing makeup. That would be kind of embarrassing to be in this beautiful country with my cowboy boots on and have a full face of "foundation-y" makeup on. READY looked really really fantastic in the great outdoors, on a horse...water-skiing. My skin looked even and perfectly natural. And Montana was dry too.
So, my point here is that I test drove READY foundation in different climates - but there is more. A few months ago we had over 30 women from the office come to my cute conference room we call Queen BE and we watched them all apply READY with the brush in this sunny room. We asked them questions and we wrote down our own comments.
We learned many things. It doesn't take much to get coverage. It takes seconds. This brush especially makes for full coverage FAST. You don't need to spend a lot of time on this, just stop. You got it on right. So funny, they were enjoying the feeling so much they just kept going.
The shades seem to run a little lighter. All of the fairly light users in original and matte were using medium beige in READY and loving it. If you are on the light side of medium beige than go there but if you are on the dark side go to medium tan or if you are very golden try golden tan. You don't have to follow my lead but I've been a mixer for years. I just enjoy my morning mix and I don't see stopping anytime soon. Even with READY I will always have a medium beige and if I am faux tanning I will dip with golden tan and if I'm not seriously faux tanned I will dip into medium tan. Your call. Most people use just one shade but in READY's case it can't hurt to have a medium beige around for future shade tweaking over the next 12 months.
Brushes. So, the brush you will see on QVC is one of the brushes the PD team developed for use with READY but please know that just like our loose you can enjoy different effects with different brushes. The flawless application brush gives lighter coverage which is a nice look. I also like the angled cheek brush (I know that sounds weird) but it is amazing for READY foundation application as well. As you get into READY you will find different looks for different occasions so your complexion will always be radiant and youthful.
Hmmmm, did I hit on all the areas I wanted to? I think so. I think you know that we always do our research and thorough testing when developing formulas. Our testing is excruciatingly detailed. We make sure all skin tones and types love it and the research team sometimes hates how extremely picky we are. But, it always works out in the end. ![]()
I'm sure we will be posting videos on line on how to apply READY. Please pay attention. There is no swirling here. It is a tap on the surface (THAT"S ALL) and a buff on the skin. Tap and buff. Easy, peasy.
Hope you love it. Whether it is your new go-to foundation or one in your foundation wardrobe. You can decide - I just think you should get it and try it for yourself. I can't wait to hear your thoughts.'''''

There's also a number of videos that BE has done on different app techniques and our different brushes. I'll post the link in a post box below as I really wouldn't want this to get poofed if at all possible. {thankyou Webbie...}
