Re: Laura Geller Not Scheduled for 2019

I like her - the iconic baked original bronzer was great.

Sad.

Mally has many good items too but I rarely buy from either b/c if I like the products they go bankrupt of go away or they d/c them way too much.

I'm staying with tried my trues..but even Bobbi Brown isn't the same like before.

@missub  That does not sound right at all.  Laura Geller is still a major brand for QVC.  Bankruptcy has nothing to do with it.  Mally’s Corporate owner also filed for bankruptcy a couple of years ago, and she is still going strong on QVC.

Perhaps Laura said it was her last show in 2018? All of the vendors were saying that as the year closed.

In fact, the Laura Geller on-air rep, Stephanie, four days ago posted on her Instagram page that she is back on QVC on Beauty iQ today, Jan. 2, at 10pm, with the entire hour.

In addition, on the main QVC channel, LG will be back Jan. 4, at 8PM for Beauty Night.

I'm confused Laura was not on today Jan.1st at 3pm. Can anyone else shed light on this?

@Squirrel Lover, going to try to read the tea leaves here since I did not see it. I'm assuming Laura was on Q's Beauty IQ  channel. And that channel only has a few hours of the day of live broadcasting. The majority of the time they are playing  previously recorded programs...especially on a holiday like New Year's Day....they may not have had ANY live programs that day. It likely could have been a show from weeks ago and Laura said she would not be back for the rest of the year...meaning 2018!

I think this thread is much ado about nothing especially given the post from @lavenderfields stating that a Laura Geller show is scheduled for Jan. 18th...2019.

Re: Laura Geller Not Scheduled for 2019

Here is another negative example of what happens when one of our well-loved lines sells to some holding company that knows nothing about the products or operation.  Many of them are quickly driven into the ground.  At least the owners get a good chunk of money for their efforts.

Re: Laura Geller Not Scheduled for 2019

According to the Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Filing which includes Laura Geller Beauty LLC, Laura Geller Brands LLC and Laura Geller Holdings LLC, QVC is owed a total of  $284,747.35 in unpaid royalties.  Come on Laura, pay up!

I didn't realize that Laura Geller (like IT Cosmetics and Mally) sold her company. UGH! I liked her products......

The company that owns the Laura Geller brand is in bankruptcy so that may be the reason.

Saying that Laura Geller’s company is in bankruptcy is a total misrepresentation of what is happening. This big group of companies are re-organizing and selling off certain businesses and this is the process that you do that. It doesn’t mean that these companies that gets sold off will not continue to do business as usual.

@Bhvbum

The company that owns Lura Geller brand, Julep, etc  is in bankruptcy right now. . If the pieces are sold they may continue to do business but it may effect when they are back on Q. Saying a company is in bankruptcy is NOT a misrepresentation. It is a legal fact. Sometimes companies like Toys R US that go into bankruptcy do not survive but they. can also restructure. It does effect the way in the short term they do business in any case.

if you read my orignal sentence and the article correctly, I never said the company was going out of business just bankruptcy. Know your facts before you criticize.

I read your article and then I went to get the full story. Obviously you don’t understand what Chapter 11 means:

Glansaol LLC has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy while simultaneously filing to sell "substantially all of its assets" to AS Beauty LLC, according to a press release from the company.

The company, which owns beauty brands like Laura Geller, Julep and Clark’s Botanicals, said the sale "is designed to preserve the strength of the company's core businesses for the benefit of [its] economic stakeholders." The sale procedures are expected to be approved in early 2019.

"The board and management team have thoroughly assessed all of our strategic options and are confident that the proposed sale process represents the best path forward for the Company," said Nancy Bernardini, Glansaol's chief executive officer. "We are pleased to have entered into an asset sale agreement with AS Beauty and are excited for the Company's future."

Glansaol is being guided through this process by restructuring advisory firm Emerald Capital Advisors, while Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP is serving as the company's legal counsel. AS Beauty is being represented by corporate law firm Sill Cummis & Gross P.C.

It’s called “restructuring a company!” Lots of companies do this. If I’m not mistaken Mally did this.

Re: Laura Geller Not Scheduled for 2019

I love Laura Geller and her products.  If she is scheduled for shows in January, the title of this thread is a little bit misleading.

A lot of these brands end up being bought by bigger companies.  For example IT Cosmetics, Laura Mercier, Philosophy, Bare Minerals, etc.

Re: Laura Geller Not Scheduled for 2019

if you were watching the Beauty IQ presentations, those are re-runs from 2018 and she did say it was her last show. However, it was not meaning that she was leaving the Q.
