@JeanLouiseFinch- I never apply mascara without L'oreal Primer (white tube) first.  L'oreal's Primer plus Voluminous Mascara are a perfect pair.

The only mascaras I can use that don't give me raccoon eyes are the tubular ones.  RIght now I am using  L'Oreal's Double Extend Beauty Tubes.  I also like the one from Clinique (Lash Power™ Mascara).

Re: Lash Paradise Hell

I recently tried Lancome Monsieur Big mascara and I love it.   Macy's has trial/travel sizes of both the regular and waterproof.  I always buy waterproof.  (I still miss Lancome's Aquacils - always found Definicils to be very dry.)

Another one I really like with a very small brush - I use it on my bottom lashes - is Clinique Lash Power Long Wearing mascara.  It's water resistent.

I don't like the oversized brushes either.

Maybelline's Lash Discovery has a very small brush too.

@Shanus I try to bring a paper towel into the bathroom to remove the excess off of the mascara wand, The tissues have fibers that might stick to the wand.

Anyway, I do like Definicils for just emphasis of lashes. But for greater emphasis & volume is their Mr. Big non waterproof (my preference) mascara. Grandiose is good too.

I do occasionally like to use L’Oreal’s Lash Paradise but it is not one of my favorites.

I do find that Lancôme’s Definicils & Urban Decay’s Perversion seem to be similar when applied to my lashes — they just emphasize them no volume.

If any mascara gets onto my lower eye area, I take a damp Q Tip & wipe.

@JustJazzmom  I do my concealer and tinted moisturizer/foundation after I’ve completed my eyes. Then if I’ve really made a mess under my eye, I can use a cotton pad w/ remover (non-oily). No harm no foul. A little more eye cream and concealer, etc.

@Shanus You work the way I do, from top of face to bottom. If I get any ‘fallout’ from the eyeshadow onto my upper cheeks, I take the blush brush & sweep away.

A person shouldn’t try to use a tissue to wipe away fallout because it can get applied to the face!

@JustJazzmom. That’s why I don’t even do concealer before eyes are finished. That’s taught by Trish McEvoy. Any messes can be cleaned off face w/ remover before continuing.

L'Oreal's Lash Paradise is just an OK mascara. I don't like the matching Lash Paradise pink primer though. Both paired together gave me flaking mascara. I tossed out the Lash Paradise pink primer and am using the Lash Paradise mascara by itself.
