I have had many color sticks and they dry out, even with the plastic cap on the top.  If you use these, how do you keep them creamy?  I have thrown several in the trash that were like new.  Any tips are appreciated.

Thank you.

Re: Josie Maran Color Sticks

That's the problem, you can't.

I've had so many over the years and I've never been able to use them more than a few times when they were dried out and thrown out, one by one.

@Denise in PA   Suggestion - go to Josie's website and send an email and ask how to keep fresh and explain your situation.  Maybe they will send you fresh ones or give you a credit.

Re: Josie Maran Color Sticks

I know what you mean Denise in PA, not only do they dry out but also start to smell funny. Thrown many a full-size color sticks out myself.

One thing I have done to get a few more uses out of them is swivel-up to a point where you think it looks "creamy," lay stick down on a piece of tissue, take a piece of dental floss and drag it flush across the top edge of tube to remove dried up color. Found some creaminess again farther down in the color stick using this method.

Re: Josie Maran Color Sticks

I only ever got one of her sticks in a kit of other items I got about 4 years ago. Never used the stick as it was too dry to begin with! Didn't like it at all...consistency was too stiff and dry going on, and I didn't care for the color either.

After that I would never consider them again.

I do love her body butters and hand creams. I've tried the argon oil, and been gifted it also...but really, I like my regular face creams better. I mainly use the argon oil on my hands/cuticles instead...and even then, I find shortly after my hands feel dried out again...creams work better there too for me.

No suggestions here. I bought several that I was  going to give as presents before all this covid . Now the sticks are all dried out ... bummer I will never buy any more of them.

Re: Josie Maran Color Sticks

Yes mine dry out too, except in the summer when it is warm and humid but once I turn on the air they dry up again!.  I have mixed some argan oil when applying but that should not need to be necessary.  And yes, once they get that rancid smell, in the trash they go.  I had the exact same experience with the color compacts.  Must be the same ingredients.  I will not be buying these again.

I can't use her color sticks....  everyone I've tried smells rancid to me.   I'm sure the colors are pretty on some,  but the smell is too overpowering and prevents me from using.
