Re: Josie Maran Body Butter - Safe?

@Sugipine .... Thank you for being the scientist in this discussion.

Personally, I do use JM's body butter and compared to other products, I'm still a fan of them.

I might add that I don't care for Josie's on-air presentations, but haven't let that stop me from using the body butter and 2 other products she sells.

And gee wiz, we all used to use petroleum jelly and lived through that....I think we'll be okay now. Cat Very Happy

Comfrey does not penetrate the skin.

If it could penetrate the skin and pose a health threat then it would come with a warning (do not use on broken skin or wounds) and probably be taken off the market.

PEG's pose a risk to broken skin, yet there are no warnings on products that contain them.

The comfrey leaf extract is near the end of the product list for her whipped Argan Oil, so not a lot in there.

I find it untruthful that she claims that the Whipped Argan Oil is simply argan oil that they somehow whip up as if they're using a hand mixer or something.  Yet, the ingredient list has many more ingredients, and not all natural (not that I, personally, have anything against chemicals).  It really bugs me when there is an "all-natural" claim or a claim that it's the natural ingredient that is doing all the work, when it's got a lot of chemicals in it.

I have no issue with using petroleum-based products, like Aquaphor, which the dermatologist gave me following a mole removal.

I hang out on an Ulta forum with a lot of employees. They seem to think she is rebranding and that is why a lot of her products are gone.
