Nothing wrong with the word. Would this be better?.....Joan Rivers, a Comic Stiletto Quick to Skewer, Is Dead at 81........you can skirt the issue, but it all points to the same thing doesn't it?

From the Fortune article: "Known for her sharp wit and comedic genius, Joan Rivers also amassed over $1 billion in sales with QVC over the last 24 years." Nearly $42 million a year. Wow.

ChicagoHeather, hello! Sorry that we meet again on such a sad occasion but good to see you. Thanks for sharing those incredibly impressive stats that Joan and her staff amassed. WHOA!! I know that I've done my best to support Joan over the years, lol (Russian eggs, Maltese crosses, Noah necklace; scads of jackets and blazers).

Joan will always be one of my heros! ~Peach

I have to agree that when I first read the heading, I winced a little. But then ~ I laughed out loud! That is totally what Joan would have said. She would have said "It's life ~ Roll with it." She would have found it hilarious.

Thumper - thank you, I laughed out loud when I read your comment. How right you are! I loved Joan Rivers and felt sad since I found out. She was a great lady & will be missed.

ITA. I think the title of the thread is a bit insensitive, but I don't think Joan would mind at all.

In fact, I think she'd be joking about her own death and she'd probably find something funny about the way she went out.

She was joking the night before about her age and the fact that she could "go any moment"!

In TRUE Joan style, I think she'd want us to lighten up about her death and remember the years of great laughs she gave us! She'd want us to focus on the times when she made us laugh so hard our stomachs hurt! She'd not want the focus to be on sadness and grief. She'd want us to laugh instead of cry. JMO.

I disagree. It's one thing talking about death but when it actually happens it is a very sad occasion. Some of the hosts on the Q have worked with Joan for over 20 years and developed friendships. This is a difficult for many.

Passed is a politically correct word for death. Joan Rivers is dead and that is not insensitive, it is truth.

I think Joan Rivers goes on to higher glory and will critique St. Peter]s celestial outfit would have worked.
