Re: Joan Rivers and her plastic surgery

Joan Rivers has never hid the fact that she's had a lot of cosmetic surgery, though I do remember hearing that her daughter, Melissa, not too long ago put her in front of a mirror and said, "Enough!"

I also enjoy watching her presentations on QVC because it's clear that she really loves her merchandise.

Re: Joan Rivers and her plastic surgery

As someone not that far from Joan's age, what I want to know is not how the surgeon can make me look but how I'll look if I never do anything but age naturally. How great it would be to know that before choosing any procedures - although I'm going natural except for hair color. I think.

We all know what we like or don't like about Joan's appearance, but we have no idea what she'd look like if she'd never had surgery. Someone just compared her to Eve Saint Marie. I don't think that's a good comparison. How about putting Joan next to Dr. Ruth and then choosing a look? They have much more in common.

I doubt that Joan ""sees"" herself as many of us do and probably she figures she looks a whole lot better with cosmetic surgery than she would if she had gone au natural. All the power to her....women have choices and I respect hers.

My bottom line is she's 80 years old and deserves respect and to be left alone.

I think she's older than 80.

I personally don't just dole out respect just because of someone's age. I think as a comedian she doesn't care who knows that she has had work done. She admits it. To me she still looks 80 plus even though she's had the work done.

Re: Joan Rivers and her plastic surgery

She has obviously had a lot of work & that is fine, if that is what she thinks looks good, to her. She doesn't look natural, but maybe she would not look good natural, either. Whatever she wants.

She does work hard, but she is not a nice woman & I would never buy anything she sells or watch her shows that take such pride in being mean. So fine. She does what she does & I don't like it. Wah. She obviously doesn't want my life either.

But, I don't think she deserves any respect because she is 80. I respect people for how they live their life, not because they got old. Although getting old isn't easy, either. LOL

She's 80 and still working that's impressive.

Re: Joan Rivers and her plastic surgery

The one thing that comes to mind when I see more mature women continuing to have this kind of work done is: do they have the" body energy" to provide for the healing necessary. We know that all functions of the body need "energy" (what it is called in alternative med) to continue to operate and that energy becomes less and less available in our bodies as we age. Therefore, when the body is cut unnecessarily it is harder on the body to heal and maintain all other functions that give us life.

I'm not sure I would know Ms. Rivers if I hadn't seen her for years. Her appearance is quite different but I think it would help in her attempt to look younger if she toned down the bright hair color and makeup a bit. She doesn't really fool as many people as she may think, but I think her clothing style is well chosen for a mature woman.who wants to be noticed .

How blessed Katherine Hepburn was to have such a well defined face; she was one woman who was able to age and still look good.

Absolutely. She looks just fine and dresses better than anyone on QVC. She takes excellent care of herself and deserves, at 80 to be admired, not put down. And this woman never stops working.{#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

My extra two cents -
