Re: Jay Manuel Foundation

I received it recently and have tried it for just a couple of days. Don't yet know if it is my "Holy Grail" foundation or not. Mercy, I have tried EVERYBODY'S  over the years trying to find that perfect one !

I am the fairest of fair, and have VERY dry skin. I don't know if it is the foundation or my preps underneath. It is smooth, covers pretty well but I found it creased a bit around my mouth and in my eyes. Going to try a lighter dose tomorrow but I need coverage on a large dark spot on my face. I don't have the Tarte brush, but I have oodles of good brushes. I ordered his package of two sponges, but they aren't going to arrive until later in July. Don't know if they will help or not. A long time ago I used his foundation in a tube but found it too thick and dry. I like the pearl essence in this though. Hopefully I can work with it and keep it as I am worn out looking for the best product for my dry skin.

I can't seem to achieve that moist, dewey, a little shiney look others have because I need good coverage. That means I don't get a sheer look even though I have clear, good skin.

Wish I could figure that out !!!

I still can't say how well it really lasts on me. Yesterday was a very, very long day & I did not get a chance to really check it out well.

I have not achieved the nice coverage I would like with it. I am hoping to get that as I continue to experiment with the foundation.

I haven't tried it yet but I picked up a new brush to use with it last night at Ulta. It is the bare Minerals  precision face brush. It is a bit shorter, smaller, and firmer than the tarte foundation brush. I think it is similar to the one Jay used in the presentations.

I don't use this particular foundation; I use UD's Naked Skin Powder foundation. I use a slightly fluffy brush for allover and then go back to my problem areas (a little redness on nose and cheeks) with a denser brush like the one you picture here.

I wish they would have spent a little more time of the color choices, it did look nice on the models, but I worry with my combo/oily skin if the "glow" might be too much and end up shiny on my face........Thanks to the poster that said colors run light!!!!!!

Jay's color system is the best ever offered on shopping television.  It's a system I have spoken about on the boards for years where each color family should have different intensities within that range.  With rare exception of brands such as Bare Escentuals, and a couple of others most try to get away with only offering 4 or 5 shades of foundation.  Jay's 1 through 4 system within each of the color families of Light, Medium, and Dark is simpler than trying to judge color by names when buying sight unseen.  We all know which color family our complexion falls in and it should not be difficult to figure out where we fall in intensity within that range.  For example I'm dark, but a light dark (#1 in Jay's foundation).  Whereas someone with Jayne Brown's skintone is also dark, but a deep dark (she might be a #4).

Heads up to those who have deep medium and dark complexions.  Iman's drugstore cosmetic line which bears her name has a powder to cream product in it.  It is called CC concealer, but I used it all over my face just to see how it felt.  The container is small, so I wouldn't do this everyday, it was a way to check out what this powder to cream is all about.  Iman must be Jay's business partner in his makeup line because he gives her a shout out on every show.  Unfortunately, Iman's line only has foundation shades for women of color, but the lightest shades would work on deep medium (olive and tan skintones).

It has a lot of crushed pearl in it so it has a lot of tiny "glisten" flecks in it. Sort of like tiny glitter dots that reflect light.

It reminds me of a product from long, long ago that was made of crushed pearl by the kid actor(grown now) who was on Happy Days. Forget his name now. Oh, I know, it was Anson Williams!  It was a nice product. Don't remember if it was a foundation, face cream or scrub, but I loved it !!!!

Do any of you remember of what I speak ?
