These products bring back such fond memories of my childhoodHeart

The Watkins man in his huge station wagon came by our home once a week. My Mother used many of these products.

The first place I saw these again was at Cracker Barrel. Yesterday, I stopped at our local gift shop and she has some of these products.

I bought the lip balm and "Aloe and Green Tea" hand cream. Both are very nice and I will go back to try another scent.

If anyone has Watkins stories to tell, I would love to hear themHeart

My uncle supported a family of four back in the 50's as a Watkins man, in St Cloud Minn. (:

my hubby is a Watkins dealer but he only keeps up his membership so we can get things for us.  Occasionally he gets requests for things but it is everywhere now people just buy it in stores.  Which is ok. They even used to sell it here on the Q!

I love the lip balms.  I have a whole spice rack filled with the spices and seasonings. All high quality.

Their hand creams are thick and rich.  I love the coconut one and the lemon.  It's funny because their most famous item is vanilla but the vanilla hand cream doesn't smell all that great. Their bath scrubs are very nice.

DH is thinking about giving up his membership at the end of this year and I will miss the discount (really isn't that much though).  I have not had one thing I didn't like.

Early in our married and family life I would see Watkins people at different places.  Back then money was tighter and I wasn't using specialty home type products.  I eventually forgot about JR Watkins, but rediscovered them again with the past couple of years.  I've found their room sprays, bottled soaps, and lotions at Target and Meijer.  The past few days I've been re-evaluate my spending on such products.  Don't get me wrong, I really like the Beekman products I'm using and I still believe the bar soaps are a good value, but maybe not so much with the liquid soaps and lotions.  Once I use them up, I'll probably go back to Watkins.

I like their liquid hand soap. Right now I'm using grapefruit. I got mine from Amazon.

Thanks for sharing with me. I know I will be buying the hand cream for some Christmas gifts.

My Mother loved their spices and I was wondering if the cinnamon is good? They also had black pepper.

The gift shop had some neat gift sets that would be nice to give someone. I may get one of those for our daughter-in-law.

I think the cinnamon is a whole lot better than what you get at the store.  The black pepper is much better as well.

@Sister Golden Hair their spices and their flavorings are the best. I use the vanilla for cooking and making ice cream. My Grandmother used the products when I was a little girl and she always said that Watkins used the best products so their Vanilla flavor was/is so much better than the imitation brands which are sold in the stores. The Menthol Camphor which is described as a "cough suppressant rub" is superior to and more concentrated than Vicks. It can also be used for those minor aches and pains that seem to be more frequent now. Even though the products cost more than those available in the supermarkets or drugstores,  you will save money because a little bit goes a long way.
